Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney, the third highest-ranked Republican in the House, has drawn a primary challenge just one week after she voted to impeach former President Trump over the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6.

State Senator Anthony Bouchard announced his campaign against Cheney on Wednesday, noting Mr. Trump's large victory margins in the state and suggesting Cheney's "long-time opposition" to Mr. Trump and her impeachment vote show "just how out-of-touch she is with Wyoming."

I read that there were others in the wings, so probably not. In a three or four candidate primary then Cheney will likely win. Match her against a single, solid candidate and I like their chances.

I don’t know the election laws in Wyoming, but maybe they can keep Cheney under 50% of the vote and force a runoff where she can be defeated.....hopefully that happens.

This is an area though where Trump can wield quite a bit of power. A primary candidate endorsed and backed by Trump will have more legitimacy than anyone GOPe puts up.

Your one suggestion would be a valid one; unite behind a single conservative candidate to oppose Cheney. Rumors that Trump is launching a new party might be another. Sure it would probably take an election cycle or two to get off the ground and might lead to short term pain, but with the right platform it could take off and lead to long term political gains.

I just looked up the rules for a primary in WY and anyone can vote in a primary {they must be a party member, but can change on primary election day} and you only need a plurality not 50% so the more that get in the better it is for lez.
