The son of a dear family friend was killed Friday night in the Houston Astroworld concert stampede. He was 14 and a freshman in High School. We have been friends with the family for 20+ years and their children and our children are essentially the same age (college and high school). My youngest son was good friends with the young man that died needlessly in the crush of people at the concert. There is no explanation as to why and my son is dealing trying to deal with the loss of someone his own age for the first time. As...

[Catholic Caucus] Praying for the Dead: Duty and PrivilegeMy mom had a strong devotion to the holy souls and prayed for them often. Even before she became ill, she would tell us to make sure that the priest who buried her did not eulogize about her saintliness. She was brought up to believe that Catholics had a duty to pray for the dead, and not only was it our obligation; it was our privilege.Straight-to-Heaven-for-All Illusion Dutch psychologist Gerard van den Aardweg, author of Hungry Souls: Supernatural Visits, Messages and Warnings From Purgatory (Tan, 2009), thinks Catholics today have a general...

I humbly request prayers for my family due to the death of my cousin. I just found out about his death a few minutes ago, so I am still in shock. His name is Goywda. I know, it’s a strange name. Thank you for the prayers. I hate to bother anyone, but the family needs prayers. Several years ago, his brother died suddenly and now his sister Glenda is the only survivor in their immediate family. Thanks in advance.

My beloved Mr. Bearshouse has passed away tonight and I am asking for remembrance in your prayers. He has been very ill for a month now and in a way it was expected, but it happened far too soon. The prayers are for me that I can hold up to the coming days with grace and make him proud. He was such a good man.

"Marquez received the mandatory vaccine on August 22, 2021, and immediately started having a bad reaction. Since receiving the vaccine he has not been able to return to work and his future is uncertain. After receiving his vaccine he developed severe tremors and has trouble sleeping due to the amount of pain in his legs. He has fallen a number of times and basically can’t walk."

King James Version 11 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. 2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth. 3 If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be. 4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. 5 As thou knowest not what...

Pastor Max Lucado has asked for prayers after announcing he has been diagnosed with an ascending aortic aneurysm. The author said he is “trusting our heavenly Father” in the days ahead as he battles the “serious” condition. Lucado, leader of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, recently shared the news on his website : “I want to take a moment to share with you some personal medical news. Recently I was diagnosed with an ascending aortic aneurysm. Because this is a serious condition, I wanted you to hear from me personally.” “Though surgery is a possibility, none is planned...

Sorry, for the personal nature of the Thread BUT...I recently got diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) and had never heard of it.I'm posting the Thread to ask if anyone here on FreeRepublic is familiar with MG, either them self directly, or has a friend or loved one who has the disease.MG, apparently, has been around forever and is 'kind of' a cousin of MS (Multiple Sclerosis). So far, it's been pretty debilitating with blurred vision, loss of strength, balance problems, and extraordinary fatigue from not a lot of activity and heat. From what I've learned, it's not a curable disease...

Parents of students in the California public school system have filed a lawsuit against the state's Department of Education in an attempt to remove a chant to Aztec gods that's part of a new ethnic studies curriculum. The lawsuit was filed Friday by the conservative legal firm Thomas More Society on behalf of the Californians for Equal Rights Foundation, individual taxpayers and parents of current and former students after their Aug. 26 letter to the State Superintendent of Public Instruction demanding withdraw of the Aztec prayer from the curriculum went unanswered. The lawsuit says the “Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum” has...

My 30 yr old nephew, my late brothers son, passed away yesterday after a very brief episode of respiratory distress. His wife explained that about 3 days ago he came down with a mild cough and began feeling poorly. He got tested and was negative for COVID-19. He had been vaccinated in February, 2021. Yesterday morning, he awoke and his wife says he felt okay so she left him in bed and went out, for whatever reason. She returned at noon to find him unresponsive. She called 911 and the paramedics were unable to revive him. They did mention that...

Pray for Cardinal Burke: An Urgent Message from Archbishop ViganòEditor's Note: I reiterate The Remnant's urgent call for prayer for Raymond Cardinal Burke who at this moment is fighting for his life in hospital and on a ventilator. We must storm heaven for prayers for this holy and courageous shepherd.I'm not sure many of us fully realize how dire our situation becomes if, for whatever reason, God calls His good and faithful servant home during this most horrific moment in history. His Eminence richly deserves such heavenly reward, of course, but his passing would be felt by the Church Militant...

Open request for prayers regarding an OLD TIME Freeper: Appalachian_Dweller has just this day been diagnosed with Lung Cancer. He has no health insurance and he’s a 55 year old former smoker. He is one of my closest friends and has had a mighty influence on this site, even though neither one of us has been here recently. When I first met him, here, back in the late 1990’s, we began a friendship that eventually led to a meeting and then an extended stay as our guest in our home in Miami, Florida along with his wonderful pup, Clyde (since...

In the first upset of the men’s NCAA Tournament, the evangelical Oral Roberts University beat second-seeded Ohio State University in overtime by a final of 75-72 on Friday. ORU’s leading scorer, forward Kevin Obanor, thanked Jesus after the win. “I’m thankful to Jesus Christ for putting us in this position,” Obanor said, according to Fox 23. “We want it very bad. It’s bigger than us, just to leave a legacy behind for ORU. I’m just very eternally grateful and I just can’t wait to play tomorrow.” Oral Roberts guard and the NCAA's leading scorer Max Abmas tallied 29 points, while...

Bob is going in for his right shoulder replacement surgery this Friday, 2/26. He did so well with the left one back in December his doctor calls him his "poster child". It went so smoothly and Bob said he had a wonderful sense of peace throughout the whole thing. Thank you to everyone who prayed for him and to the Lord for His hand in it all. Bob's doing so well recovering from the last surgery that he feels more than ready to take care of the other side now. He's been suffering serious pain and limited movement for years...
