  • ‘Slap in the face’: Pot inmates call Biden mass-pardon ‘rancid’ election ruse

WASHINGTON — Federal marijuana inmates say they’re shocked that President Biden’s mass-pardon for pot offenders doesn’t actually help them — telling The Post that the historic clemency amounts to a “rancid” pre-midterm elections stunt and a “slap in the face” that fails to do what Biden promised as a candidate. There are about 2,700 federal pot inmates, according to a recent congressional estimate, but none will get out because Biden’s pardon applies only to the roughly 6,500 people convicted federally of simple possession, of whom none are in prison, and to unknown thousands more convicted under local DC law. Biden...

This is a question we batted around back in June, in that case applying to workers in the private sector. If you live in a state where marijuana has been legalized, either for medical or recreational use, can your employer fire you for failing a drug test even if you were only using marijuana in off work hours? It turns out the answer is generally yes, though it’s a bit complicated.Today the same issue arises for public sector workers. Government Executive examines the question of whether or not federal workers should legally be allowed to fire up a joint after...

Here’s another negative marijuana story from Colorado. You can expect many more. It seems nonsensical for the Feds to be concerned about illegal medical marijuana sales from non-licensed individuals when this was what the voters wanted. The Feds list 8 areas of enforcement in the story but they seem futile and ridiculous. In my opinion let non-licensed people sale it, what the heck difference does it make honestly? Let the chips fall where they may and let the rest of the states observe what a catastrophic mistake it was legalizing it. Can you image trying to sort out this mess...

A family was surprised to find a pipe stuffed with marijuana inside a Kids Meal box that was purchased from the Burger King in Dundee Tuesday night, police said. The investigation led to charges being sought against an employee and two other young men all from the Dundee area. The marijuana was not intended to be sold in the children’s meal box, police said. Dundee Police Chief Dave Uhl said a 23-year-old employee admitted to placing the pipe inside a Kids Meal box in an apparent effort to hide the pot while he was working.

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / AP) - The California Republican Party is just saying no to a November ballot initiative that would legalize marijuana in the state. The less-than-surprising news that the state GOP would oppose a measure known as the Tax Cannabis Act was announced Wednesday on the party's Web site. ... Party chairman Ron Nehring said the health and public safety costs of expanded marijuana use would far outweigh any tax revenue raised from legalizing the drug.

For the past several years, I've been harboring a fantasy, a last political crusade for the baby-boom generation. We, who started on the path of righteousness, marching for civil rights and against the war in Vietnam, need to find an appropriately high-minded approach to life's exit ramp...I even have a slogan for the campaign: "Tune in, turn on, drop dead." A fantasy, I suppose. But, beneath the furious roil of the economic crisis, a national conversation has quietly begun about the irrationality of our drug laws. It is going on in state legislatures, like New York's, where the draconian Rockefeller...
