Philanthropist and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is the kind of anti-freedom politician every gun owner should despise. Whether it is the food we eat or the kind of car we drive, Bloomberg likes to stick his nose in other people’s business, and tell us what to do. Bloomberg’s viewpoints are not just for the New York City folks either, but for all of us, and when it comes to his position on guns, his ego reaches new, obscene levels. Instrumental in assembling “Mayors Against Illegal Guns," which boosts 500-plus members across the Nation, Bloomberg is on a crusade...

Mayor Bloomberg practiced his version of verbal jujitsu Wednesday, mangling a greeting to Muslim leaders at a Ramadan gathering with "shalom alaikum." Hizzoner was shooting for "salaam alaikum" - the traditional Arabic "peace to you" greeting. "He just got a little confused," one witness said. Imam Omar Abunamous of the Islamic Cultural Center of New York said it was an understandable mistake for the Jewish mayor. "Well, it's common to both religions," Abunamous said. "They are the same thing. The same idea." The mayor frequently butchers names and words, and he often ends each press announcement with a cringeworthy pronunciation...

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warned Tuesday that an attack on his country's nuclear facilities could spark a war with "no limits," US media reported. He also suggested that the Holocaust had been exaggerated as a "pretext for war," during a New York meeting with US media owners and editors. "The United States doesn't understand what war looks like. When a war starts, it knows no limits," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying in response to a question about any US-supported strike by Israel on Iran's nuclear facilities. "The United States has never entered a serious war, and has never been victorious,"...

Paul Krugman is known for throwing a bomb or two from his platform in the New York Times, but it's really tough to take him for a violent fellow. In his July 2 blog post, "I'm Gonna Haul Out The Next Guy Who Calls Me ‘Crude' And Punch Him In the Kisser," Krugman lamented criticism of his support for more stimulus spending. A July 1 editorial in The Economist noted that the economy needs more private spending, not more government spending. "Mr Krugman's crude Keynesianism underplays the link between firms' and households' behaviour and their expectations of future tax and...

Fred and Jeri Thompson took their radio show to the WLS Chicago airwaves this morning during drive-time. Among their guests: Disgraced Democratic former Gov. Rod Blagojevich. The impeached state executive made many claims that will ring hollow, but he also had some interesting political analysis, particularly of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who was among his early backers for governor in 2002 and who succeeded him in his Skokie-area House seat in 2003. Sen. Thompson asked about whether Blago believed the story told by former Rep. Eric Massa, D-N.Y., that Emanuel had accosted him naked in the shower...
