Glassdoor, the website that allows workers to anonymously complain about their workplaces without fear of retribution, is reportedly revealing staffers’ real names in their profiles — prompting a viral backlash over fears that their identities could be exposed. The shift began last July when the site added social features integrated from Fishbowl, an app for work-related discussions that Glassdoor’s parent company, Recruit, acquired in 2021. Signing up for an account on Glassdoor required workers to reveal their full name, job title and employer — a departure from its previous practice of just requiring email addresses but no names, according to...

Last Sunday on CBS, Anthony Fauci infamously declared Christmas gatherings an uncertainty; now the doctor is encouraging everyone to celebrate Halloween. In a Sunday interview with CNN, Fauci said that COVID-19 cases are headed in the “right direction” and that Americans should enjoy events like trick-or-treating later this month.Dr. Anthony Fauci said in an interview on Sunday that outdoor trick-or-treating is perfectly safe. While he still endorsed vaccinations for all who are eligible, he said Halloween was "a very important part of the year for children." https://t.co/vQTVv7r8hq— The New York Times (@nytimes) October 10, 2021“I think that, particularly if you’re vaccinated,...

It is time for Constitutionally law-abiding people to get armed and start carrying. A well-armed, law-abiding citizenry keeps crime at bay much better than a demoralized police force who grows tired of making arrests only to see the perps be released without bail and without a judge’s ability to remand them to being held based on danger to the community or the criminal's flight risk. Most armed citizens that use their gun for protection never even fire the weapon. The mere brandishing of it before the evildoer is usually enough to incentivize the criminal to stop his activity and to...

The Republican governor of Vermont signed legislation this week which makes it legal for minors to obtain an abortion without parental consent. Vermont law also allows non-physicians, including registered nurse practitioners, to perform abortions. To put in perspective how radical the state's abortion standards are, consider that parents have to give their child written or verbal permission to obtain so much as an ibuprofen pill from the school nurse, but do not have to approve of their daughter's obtaining a life-altering decision like abortion under GOP Gov. Phil Scott's new law. “Like many Vermonters, I have consistently supported a woman’s...

The Obama administration has dropped a controversial proposal that would have required all federally funded scientists to get permission from patients before using their cells, blood, tissue or DNA for research. The proposal was eliminated from the final revision of the Common Rule, which was published in the Federal Register Wednesday. The rule is a complex set of regulations designed to make sure federally funded research on human subjects is conducted ethically. The revision to the regulations, set to go into effect in 2018, marks the first time the rule has been updated in 26 years. The initial proposal that...

Syria promises to loom large in discussions between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Barack H. Obama when the latter visits Israel this week. And according to the Guardian newspaper in Britain, those discussions will entail an Israeli request for the U.S. to take military action against Syria. Israeli sources do not expect Obama to agree to the Israeli request – but the objective is not necessarily to get Obama to commit American troops to yet another imbroglio in the Middle East, but to convince him to approve an attack by Israel if Bashar al-Assad tries to transfer chemical...

EXCLUSIVE The Department of Education is giving morning-after pills and other birth-control drugs to students at 13 high schools, The Post has learned. School nurse offices stocked with the contraceptives can dispense “Plan B” emergency contraception and other oral or injectable birth control to girls without telling their parents — unless parents opt out after getting a school informational letter about the new program. CATCH — Connecting Adolescents To Comprehensive Health — is part of a citywide attack against the epidemic of teen pregnancy, which spurs many girls — most of them poor — to drop out of school. Detectives who need to park near courthouses now have to ask for permission if they want to use their unmarked cars, the Daily News has learned. The directive comes in the wake of revelations by The News that the NYPD has been towing unmarked cop cars, leaving detectives stranded with no way to transport suspects, witnesses or victims. The NYPD says the towing, carried out by traffic enforcement agents under the direction of the Internal Affairs Bureau, is necessary to prevent detectives from blocking hydrants and crosswalks and parking on sidewalks.

WASHINGTON — Is Scott Brown, the newly minted U.S. senator and Republican Party savior, backing Carly Fiorina for Senate? The answer is no. But you might be forgiven for thinking he is after watching Fiorina's new Web ad featuring Brown's mug in one frame, then hers in the next, with the caption, "Thank You Massachusetts. Now on to California. Join the Path to Victory." Weeks after Fiorina took the Web by storm with the "demon sheep" video castigating rival Tom Campbell for not being fiscally conservative enough, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO and first-time political candidate is again stirring controversy with...

Israel gave serious thought this spring to launching a military strike on Iran's nuclear sites but was told by President George W Bush that he would not support it and did not expect to revise that view for the rest of his presidency, senior European diplomatic sources have told the Guardian. The then prime minister, Ehud Olmert, used the occasion of Bush's trip to Israel for the 60th anniversary of the state's founding to raise the issue in a one-on-one meeting on May 14, the sources said. "He took it [the refusal of a US green light] as where they...

WASHINGTON — The Navy's latest proposal to test a blood substitute made by a Massachusetts company on 1,100 trauma victims appears more likely to earn a go-ahead from regulators who had blocked the experiment over safety concerns. The Navy wants to test the product, derived from cow blood, on civilian trauma victims in emergency situations. It proposes doing so without obtaining their consent in advance, as is customary in clinical trials. The substitute blood, called Hemopure, would be given on the way to the hospital to patients ages 18 to 69 who have lost dangerous amounts of blood. It would...

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Two topics looming large in the world arena -- the Hamas-led Palestinian government and Iran's nuclear program -- are drawing close attention these days from the Vatican's foreign policy experts. On the Palestinian situation, the Vatican believes Hamas should be pressed to moderate its positions, but it opposes the U.S. and European strategy of cutting off foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority. On Iran, the Vatican has encouraged the Iranian government to cooperate more fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency to ensure that its nuclear program is peaceful. At the same time, Vatican officials believe...

Television New Zealand is being sued for $115,000 by car-crash victims who were horrified to watch their ordeal being replayed on a "reality" TV show. Gary Robert Andrews and his wife Penny had to be prised by firefighters from their car after it crashed into a paddock off the Southern Motorway on December 21, 2002. The Auckland couple were filmed by Greenstone Pictures while trapped in the vehicle and as they were being removed, at which point Mr Andrews was unconscious and his wife was trying to speak to him. The couple have told the High Court that their permission...

BARTOW, Fla., Sept. 2 — Paula Burcham ran the kind of day care working mothers dream about. Her house was immaculate, the meals for the children were home cooked. Kids would line up to get a hug from “Mama Paula.” BUT THE FAMILIES who trusted Burcham didn’t know she was giving over-the-counter medicines to their children without their permission. Now they suspect she was using the drugs to sedate cranky little ones. On August 15, Burcham was sentenced to eight years in prison for giving a 3 1/2-month-old girl a lethal dose of Benadryl to quiet her. And in the 20...
