  • Top Google Image Searches for Scott Adams Turn Him Into a Nazi

Imagine looking at the Google Images search engine results for yourself and see that among the first ten images to pop up is you dressed as a Nazi, even though you never wore such garb. You might know how Dilbert creator Scott Adams felt when he saw such photoshopped images of himself appear as images #4 and #7 (as of this writing) in Google Images.  The normally mild mannered Adams was understandably quite upset over this in his Thursday Periscope and YouTube video especially since the images were linked to a fake Twitter account that has already been taken down as well...

Infowars founder Alex Jones just got completely silenced on Thursday afternoon, after he was banned by both Twitter and Periscope. These were the last social-media platforms that still allowed Alex Jones to disseminate his message to the American people, after Infowars was “disappeared” by YouTube, Apple and Facebook, among others. According to Mark Dice, this happened because reasons. Check this out: In August, Jones received a one-week suspension after CNN provided Twitter with a number of instances where his tweets appeared to violate the company’s user policies. As you can see, regardless of what you think about him, Alex Jones...

New York: An 18-year-old woman in the US has been accused of filming the sexual assault of a minor girl and uploading it in the social media, prompting a grand jury to indict her and her boy friend on several charges including rape. The woman, Marina Lonina from Ohio, is charged with streaming the rape of the 17-year-old girl via Twitter's live video app Periscope, US media reported. The case came to light when authorities were contacted after an out-of-state friend of the woman saw the images, Prosecutor Ron O'Brien said. Marina Lonina and co-defendant Raymond Gates, 29, have been...
  • Meerkat is dying – and it’s taking U.S. tech journalism with it

About three days after it received a lavish new funding round, Meerkat died an ugly and embarrassing death. It is hard to decide whether the Great Meerkat Debacle that has unfolded over the past week is a tragedy or a comedy — probably a bit of both. The mobile streaming app that had whipped U.S. tech journalists into a frenzy announced $14 million in new funding on Thursday. Money poured in from Jared Leto, Greylock Partners and other illustrious sources. On the same day, Twitter launched its rival streaming app called Periscope. Apparently, investors didn’t stop to ponder why Meerkat...
  • 1950s San Francisco, as seen through a submarine periscope (USS Catfish SS-339)

1950s San Francisco, as seen through a submarine periscope In 1951, the USS Catfish (SS-339), a WWII-era diesel submarine, cruised into San Francisco Bay. The crew snapped a handful of pictures through the periscope, showing what the city and Alcatraz looked like from the submariners' perspective. It's a bit eerie to see the city through the periscope's reticles, almost as if it were a target. It offers a historical perspective a largely pre-skyscraper San Francisco, but also creates the sense that the city being spied on.

Talk about the big one that got away. Ryan Danoff was fishing with two friends about four miles off Hollywood beach Sunday when he spied what appeared to be a mast on the horizon. Funny thing: There was no boat underneath it. Danoff, a Fort Lauderdale fish farmer who's on the water at least three days a week, aimed his 31-foot center console Fishy Business at the mysterious upright and found himself eye to eye with a periscope. "It was crazy," he said. "If it was just myself out there I wouldn't believe what I saw." Danoff moved closer. "It...
