The Cancel Culture is now aiming its guns at a popular local restaurant in Stillwater, Oklahoma, because of its name – Eskimo Joe’s. Eskimo Joe’s is a very successful local restaurant, founded in 1975, and has become quite well-known outside of the Sooner State. Its iconic shirts, featuring a smiling Eskimo and his faithful dog, Bucky, are so popular that the company has a clothing store right next to the restaurant. So what's the problem? A petition is circulating, attacking the restaurant for its name and its logo.

A Philadelphia man has been charged after allegedly threatening the life of Rep. Eric Cantor, the second-ranking Republican in the House. U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger said that 38-year-old Norman LaBoon has been charged with two counts of threatening an official of the United States and with transmitting in interstate commerce a threatening communication, according to the The Philadelphia Inquirer. The FBI arrested LaBoon in March after receiving a copy of a YouTube video in which LaBoon made threats about Cantor. Officials tracked the I.P. address to a computer in Philadelphia used by LaBoon, who had previously been arrested for...

World War II was my war. We fought the Germans. They were the enemy. There was a German problem. Of course, if we had stopped to think about it, which we didn’t because we were too busy trying to win the war, we would have realized that not every German wanted to fight us; maybe not even a majority of them did. But they didn’t oppose the Nazi extremists who had taken over their government and attacked us in the name of German racial superiority. I’m sure a lot of Germans agreed with Hitler. But those who were against him,...
  • National Patronizing Radio (a.k.a. NPR: Highlights in Propaganda)

National Patronizing Radio By Geoffrey Norman on 10.22.10 @ 6:09AM Anna Christopher, who is "senior manager of media relations" at National Public Radio, spent yesterday doing some serious explaining. Most of us probably didn't know that NPR had any managers of media relations, much less a senior one, and certainly didn't care. NPR is free to waste money any way it chooses, even if some of the money does come from taxpayers. Anyway, seems Ms. Christopher was called upon to manage the media regarding NPR's firing of Juan Williams for saying something inconsistent with the company line. The problem was...
  • RAW DATA: NPR Internal Memo on Juan Williams

The following is an internal memo sent on behalf of NPR President and CEO Vivian Schiller: Dear AREPS, Thank you for all of your varying feedback on the Juan Williams situation. Let me offer some further clarification about why we terminated his contract early. First, a critical distinction has been lost in this debate. NPR News analysts have a distinctive role and set of responsibilities. This is a very different role than that of a commentator or columnist. News analysts may not take personal public positions on controversial issues; doing so undermines their credibility as analysts, and that’s what’s happened...

Heh. Between this and his hint-hinting on “Fox & Friends” this morning that maybe it’s time for NPR to leave the government-funded nest, he’s number one with a bullet on this week’s list of “Conservatives’ Favorite Liberals.” (Sorry, KP!) As for his point that NPR was looking for a reason to get rid of him, they’ve already all but admitted it. The ombudsman claimed this morning that it was his alleged pattern of saying outrageously outrageous things on Fox that made this the final straw, although from what I can tell, the “pattern” consists of this incident plus maybe two...

Media: Public broadcasting strikes a blow for censorship by firing a nationally known commentator for suggesting a connection between Islamofascism and terrorism. Sorry, there is one, and it makes us nervous too. Perhaps we should now call NPR, public broadcasting's answer to Air America, National Politically Correct Radio, as the Weekly Standard's William Kristol has suggested. The firing of resident pundit Juan Williams demonstrates that free and open debate is not NPR's thing, despite its publicly funded mission statement that all voices should be heard. Appearing on Fox's "O'Reilly Factor" Monday night, Williams did not disagree with host Bill O'Reilly's...

The group claims that Beyer interfered with its efforts to gather petition signatures to place a question repealing the county's new transgender protection law on the November 2008 ballot. Witnesses, including one who works for Giant, said they heard Beyer say that the county might penalize Giant for asking that Beyer and some members of her advocacy group, Teach the Facts, not interfere with the signature gathering. The group also claims that Beyer intimidated members and those who wanted to sign the petition, saying they would be labeled as bigots and their information would be published online.
