This Independence Day, read the unexpected history of the songs that have led our nation's soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen into battle. Armies have used music to rally troops in battle since biblical days. During the American War for Independence, boys too young and men too old to fight often played the fife and drum for the Continental Army, using music to signal commands as well as to boost soldiers’ morale.A particular tune might direct troops to cease fire, or to reload their rifles. While music rarely has such a practical use on the battlefield today, each branch of the...

Hundreds of thousands of men and women rolled into Washington, D.C., on motorcycles Sunday morning as part of an annual Memorial Day tradition that honors fallen service members. "Fantastic to have 400,000 GREAT MEN & WOMEN of Rolling Thunder in D.C. showing their patriotism. They love our Country, they love our Flag, they stand for our National Anthem! Thanks to Executive Director Artie Muller," Trump tweeted Sunday.
  • God Bless the USA - Lee Greenwood - 20 Sep 2001 - Fox - WITH Chyron

When I noticed someone downarrowed this patriotic video that Fox put up 9 days after 9/11, I was rather horrified. Played it and it still feels wonderful and uplifting to me. Hope it still gets to you, too. The Fox chyron is running underneath, reminding us what was happening that day. I just created a new Playlist for videos like this: Patriotic/Political Musical Tributes

I know how bad the platform is and I feel like it was only made to sew discord and cause problems, just like the rest of social media... The thing is, either we give up that ground or we fight them where they are... I just put this post out there and I would encourage people to copy and paste it all over any social media you are a part of, Twitter wont work, its too long, but rewrite your own that works there. I don't want any credit make this your own conversation, just start it. We are continually...

Bruckheimer’s latest project is “12 Strong,” which was inspired by the first U.S. Special Forces that were sent to Afghanistan in the weeks after the September 11th terror attack. It’s a tale that was kept under wraps until Doug Stanton’s book “Horse Soldiers” was published in 2009.

Long Beach has an annual Tiki Festival that is a small family oriented event but that also gets some pretty good Hawaiian and Polynesian dance groups for entertainment. I dropped by this morning and was surprised and happy to hear Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American" playing just as I walked up. One of the Hawaiian dance groups played it as the young ladies did a slow "hula" to the music. It was very well done and the crowd loved it. Just wanted to share a refreshing patriotic moment from a place you would not expect.

Back in 1984 when I was a college student, I had a seasonal job as a field biologist assistant, which required camping all summer deep in the High Sierra wilderness. It was a wonderful summer living in tents and cooking over a campfire with six other students. In the evenings, we sat around the fire and cooked food, swapped stories, sang songs, read books and otherwise entertained ourselves. Once in a while we had visitors join us. One such visitor was a student from Germany named Hanna. Her stay happened to coincide with America’s Independence Day, and that evening in...

Friend to Donald Trump and Nigel Farage, millionaire business man and former UKIP donor, Aron Banks is set to launch a movement that could (if done right) shake the very souls of the Westminster elite. For some time now, Banks has been hinting at the formation of a party with some very solid goals, and as yet, it remains unclear as to whether this will be a full-fledged party or a political movement, but either way, excitement is brewing. The newly opened website, aptly titled: thepatrioticalliance, introduces the reader to some bold strokes, but little actual detail. (Not to be...

Will America have to suffer an even more catastrophic attack: nuclear, chemical or biological before we finally batten down the hatches, pull out all the stops and do whatever it takes to truly keep this nation safe? We know ISIS and the other radical Islamic crazies constantly attempt to insert operatives into America. In spite of this, our president wants to allow thousands of refugees into America, which we have already been told by ISIS will contain terrorists, and he even refuses to properly identify our blood enemy. Have we learned our lesson? Some of us have. But apparently, some...

At a recent stop in Worcester, Massachusetts, this week, Kiss brought its roadie for the day onstage, along with other members of the military past and present, and led the entire arena in the Pledge of Allegiance, something the band has done before. However, this one had a bit of a special message to a particular NFL player -- a not-so-subtle knock to the recent shenanigans by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, lead singer Paul Stanley said: “You should remember, patriotism is always cool. Loving your country is always cool. Standing up, respecting and honoring our military is always...

Editor’s Note: Normal people might find some of this offensive. (We hope.) A regular read of liberal websites calls to mind the famous Ian Drury and the Blockheads song, “Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll.” To quote the late punker, that’s “all my brain and body need.” Throw in politics and hating on conservatives and you have just defined every liberal website of any significance. Where would sites like HuffPo or, God help us, Cosmo, be without weird and freaky sex stories? Next, remember that liberals are even ahead of libertarians in the pro-drug movement. Whether it’s pot or...

According to the website WalletHub, Virginia is the most patriotic state in the union. States were ranked by "military engagement" (number of veterans per capita, number of active-duty military per capita, and number of people who enlisted in the military) as well as "civic engagement" (percentage of people who voted, percentage of people who volunteer, percentage of people who join the Peace Corps, as well as civics requirements and Google searches for the American flag). The state with the highest military engagement was Alaska, while the state with the highest civic engagement ranking was Wisconsin. Personally, I was pretty pleased...
