NEW YORK -- The digital media conglomerate Starboard said Friday it purchased the conservative social media site Parler and will temporarily take down the app as it undergoes a “strategic assessment.” The deal came months after another acquisition agreement with rapper Kanye West, legally known as Ye, collapsed in November. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed by either company. Parler said the deal was concluded on April 7. Parler caters to right-wing, far right and libertarian voices and fashions itself as a platform with fewer rules in support of free speech. It was briefly booted off the internet...

The leftist Big Tech giants that waged a political vendetta against Parler when each banned the app from their platforms are now silent on whether or not the communist Chinese government-tied TikTok app should be banned. Given the wave of growing concerns about TikTok, MRC Free Speech America staff reached out to Apple and Google, the two companies that banned the free speech app Parler from their app stores following the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot. Apple later restored Parler back onto its app store in April 2021 and Google followed suit nearly two years after the initial ban in...

We reported in October that musician and entrepreneur Kanye West (who now answers to “Ye”) was set to buy social media platform Parler. In the mix, as my colleague Kira Davis wrote then, was the recent re-upping of a ban on West’s Twitter account. Unless you’ve lived in a bunker for the past few months, you know he’s been mired in controversy over anti-Semetic remarks he’s made, on both social media and during interviews. You may have also heard about an unannounced visit to Mar-a-Lago for dinner. When we last checked in on the guy (Thursday), he was sharing some extraordinarily...

Music, apparel & sports titan is acquiring leading free-speech Platform Parlement Technologies announced today that it has entered into an agreement in principle to sell Parler, the world's pioneering uncancelable free speech platform, to Ye (formerly known as Kanye West). Ye has become the richest Black man in history through music and apparel and is taking a bold stance against his recent censorship from Big Tech, using his far-reaching talents to further lead the fight to create a truly non-cancelable environment. "In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the...

Facebook recently locked up the account of "Heros of Liberty" only to later backtrack following the uproar, saying it was an "error." It was one of those "errors" that only happen conservatives. Facebook originally said that Heroes of Liberty – which has published books about Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, former President Ronald Reagan and author Thomas Sowell – violated the company's rules against "Low Quality or Disruptive Content." Facebook originally locked the ads account on Dec. 23, and after Heroes of Liberty appealed the ruling, the company permanently disabled the account. A favorite of mine, @jewishdeplorable, was suspended...

Is this the revenge of Four Seasons Landscaping? That was the worn-down venue in Philadelphia where Donald Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, launched the doomed effort to block Joe Biden’s win in the 2020 presidential election. The Giuliani group meant to book the Four Seasons hotel, but somebody goofed and Giuliani ended up spouting his familiar election lies in front of an industrial garage door plastered with Trump signs. The Trump effort to overturn the election never got any more professional than that.

“Right wing builds its own echo chamber,” the far-left, fake news site Axios warned in a recent headline. They cancel us, they blacklist us, they shadow ban us, they memory-hole inconvenient truths about Hunter Biden’s laptop, Kyle Rittenhouse’s innocence, and the coronavirus lab-leak theory, and now they’re all butthurt because we refuse to sit there, shut up, and take it. Hey, can you blame them? After decades of dealing with the right’s castrated, house-trained McCains, Romney’s, Bushes, Kristols, and National Reviews, the media are still shell-shocked over this new generation’s awesome belligerence towards them (which our founder Andrew Breitbart deserves...

Members of the hacktivist collective Anonymous claim to have hacked web registration company Epik, allegedly stealing “a decade’s worth of data,” including reams of information about its clients and their domains. Epik is controversial, having been known to host a variety of rightwing clients, including ones that previous web hosting providers, like GoDaddy, have dropped for various reasons. Its users have included conservative social media networks Parler and Gab, as well as conspiracy-theory-laden YouTube wannabe Bitchute and former President Trump fansite, The Donald. The company recently hosted prolifewhistleblower.com—the website designed to help people snitch on Texas residents who want abortions—but...

Everywhere you look, everything you do, someone is watching you. That sounds like paranoid sci-fi, but isn’t it true? CCTV cameras keep an eye on you at the grocery store and at traffic lights, your social media activity is being monitored by “moderators,” and your Internet Service Provider can see what websites you visit. And now we learned that leftists are pressuring phone companies to censor text messages that might carry disinformation about the Biden administration's response to the pandemic. A few decades ago, we would have been outraged at this constant invasion of our privacy. What feels like a rip...

I give my thoughts on the wave of alternative apps seeking to challenge the monopoly of Big Tech, and explain why conservatives need a genuine, workable refuge from social media censorship.

President Trump on Tuesday cheered Nigeria’s decision to ban Twitter from the country and called on other countries to follow suit. The Nigerian government last Friday announced it is suspending Twitter operations in the country indefinitely. Twitter suspended Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari last Thursday for “abusive behavior.” Buhari tweeted a warning to ‘insurrectionists’ on Thursday so Twitter stepped in and suspended his account. Today Apple announced that they would be allowing Establishment Oligarch-owned Parler back on the Apple App Store. This comes after Parler ousted their pro-free speech CEO and Founder John Matze, who claims that his 40% stake in the company was stolen from him. After removing Matze Parler implemented a “troll filter” to censor “trolling content,” whatever that means. Bloomberg reported that Parler is working with third-party artificial intelligence software company Hive to automatically censor and remove content that Apple doesn’t like. Hive works with other Big Tech companies like Reddit to leverage artificial intelligence to censor content at scale. Shortly...

Sorry for the vanity, but I have been watching the news on this for a week and have not seen an article. I noticed at some point last week that I can not longer get to Parler.com while at home. It does not connect on my computer, or on either of my two phones while using my home wi-fi. When I connect to a VPN on either phone (I have a work and personal cell phone), or if I use cellular data Parler.com and the Parler app work just fine. The error I get is "server not found". Has anyone...
