The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, co-founded by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, donated $500,000 on Oct. 1 to Ballot Measure 110, which seeks to decriminalize possession of some hard drugs in Oregon. The measure would also establish a drug addiction treatment and recovery program. The Chan Zuckerberg donations raise Ballot Measure 110's cash contributions to $1.4 million. In contrast, the ballot's opponents have raised $12,800 in cash contributions and secured a $40,100 loan. According to the Oregon secretary of state website, this appears to be the first time the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has contributed to an Oregon...

Erin Smith was at a GOP election watch party at Twitter headquarters in San Francisco on November 8, 2016. For the one-time deputy vice chair of communications for the city Republication Party, it should have been a time of jubilation. "As soon as they announced Trump the presumptive winner, we're told, 'Hey, there's a mob of protestors out front,'" says Smith, who stepped outside to find the San Francisco cops being pushed back by a crowd, some in head-to-toe black: clothes, helmets, face masks. A trans woman, conservative, and former tugboat captain who says she's "a weird activist/analyst-type person right...

Noha Kassab, CEO of Kassab Jewelers, said her family-owned store was was broken into and looted early in the morning on May 30. This was during the beginning stages of what would lead to more than 100 days of protest in Portland. "I started looking on my phone to see who was in my store, it was bunch of people going into the store, broke glass, it was the most painful, disheartening experience I ever faced," said Kassab. The store owner said they are still calculating the costs, but estimates $2.5 million in damages. "I’m not someone who came to this country with...

When Proud Boys chairman Enrique Tarrio woke up Wednesday, four news vans were parked in front of his home. The chairman of the far-right fraternity with a violent reputation was sleepy but not surprised; his phone had been ringing nonstop since President Trump told his members to “stand back and stand by” during the first presidential debate the night before. Trump’s words were a galvanizing moment for the far right and specifically for the Proud Boys, a male-only group with a reputation for bashing leftist protesters during street brawls. The sitting Republican president had given an organization that had operated...

...The officers were made deputies in advance of expected demonstrations at a rally by far-right group Proud Boys which took place in Portland on Saturday. Anticipating violence, Oregon Governor Kate Brown issued an executive order allowing local and county law enforcement to handle the event. While some protests did occur, the rally lasted roughly 90 minutes before ending. Mayor Wheeler's office said in a Tuesday statement that it had asked the office of the U.S. Attorney to remove the deputation. On Wednesday, District of Oregon Billy J. Williams and U.S. Marshal for the District of Oregon Russ Burger denied Wheeler's...

President Donald Trump during Tuesday night’s debate said he secured the endorsement of the “Portland sheriff” -- presumably a reference to Multnomah County Sheriff Mike Reese. Reese shortly after tweeted that was false. “In tonight’s presidential debate the President said the ‘Portland Sheriff’ supports him," Reese said on Twitter. "As the Multnomah County Sheriff I have never supported Donald Trump and will never support him.”

Authorities arrested 30 people on Saturday night in Portland after a relatively calm day of protests, despite dueling demonstrations which Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell said were “free from serious violence.” Gov. Kate Brown (D) declared a state of emergency prior to the expected dueling protests in the city on Saturday. Police Chief Lovell praised the “unified efforts of Oregon State Police, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, and the Portland Police” in quelling the tensions and expressed hope that the peace would extend through the evening:

Police say a right-wing Proud Boys rally and counter-protests in Portland, Oregon, have largely dispersed without serious violence, though they are investigating an assault after one person who was documenting the event was pushed to the ground and kicked in the face. About 1,000 people gathered at the Proud Boys rally in Delta Park on Saturday, while a group of 500 left-wing counter-protesters massed at nearby Peninsula Park, leading to fears of clashes. Ahead of the right-wing rally, which organizers said was to support President Donald Trump and 'to end domestic terrorism', Oregon Governor Kate Brown declared a state of...

JACKSON CO., Or.- Today, a grand jury indicted the man Medford police are charging with lighting a vehicle on fire near Emigrant Lake the same day the Almeda fire sparked. 45-year-old Vance Nguyen is in Jackson County jail on a first-degree arson charge. Today Nguyen appeared before a judge and pled “not guilty.” Police arrested Nguyen after investigating a vehicle that was set on fire near Emigrant Lake. Greensprings firefighters says they found the vehicle in flames, with a propane tank on the top of it. They tell us the direction of the wind that day prevented it from spreading...

For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:30-31 (King James Version) The mourning of Frau Ginsburg is over and now the hatred and anger of the Satanic cult is about to be out in full view. The cult lost one of its largest icons as the most powerful woman in America finally died. The only questions are did she die of Corona and is she wearing a...

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) declared a state of emergency ahead of this weekend’s far-right rally in Portland. The decision also comes after protesters and police clashed during demonstrations over the grand jury decision not to directly indict any officer involved in the killing of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Ky.

State health leaders listed him as the youngest Oregonian to die from COVID-19, but it turns out 26-year-old Matthew Irvin of Yamhill County didn’t have the virus when he died in July. Family members of Irvin told FOX 12 they’ve been fighting for answers since their son died in his home. New testing conducted by the CDC confirmed Irvin did not have the coronavirus when he died, according to his parents. The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office said Irvin’s sample sent to the CDC tested negative for COVID-19. The family said back in July, Irvin became very sick and went...

Right-wing group the Proud Boys were denied a permit for their planned Saturday rally in Portland, city officials announced Wednesday, citing coronavirus concerns. The proposed rally at Delta Park in north Portland was expected to draw 10,000 Proud Boy supporters. Two concurrent counter protests by left-wing groups were also planned in the city, including one in the same park. Portland Parks & Recreation Bureau said in a statement that the city denied the permit over the estimated size of the rally, which they said would violate coronavirus safety measures. “We must all do our part to fight the spread of...

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has pointed out that the state’s wildfires are located primarily on federal land — and he’s right — but now he and other Democratic governors are trying to block the Trump administration’s effort to speed up the clearing of overgrown, tinder-dry forests. Twenty-three states, including California, Oregon and Washington, sued last month to stop the National Environmental Policy Act modernization, which would thin the regulatory thicket and red tape blamed for slowing down federal projects, including forest management on the government’s extensive Western lands.

This past weekend, President Donald Trump asked Attorney General William Barr to designate Seattle, Portland, and New York City as "anarchistic jurisdictions" and to consider withholding federal funds, including potentially those used for law enforcement, from those cities. Of the three cities, Portland has had the longest running visible conflicts, with marches and escalating violence nearly every night since George Floyd was killed on May 25. (Protesters did take a few nights off during the recent wildfires.) The pictures the world sees of Portland are unsubtle—it's either "Savages coming to your town!" or "Protesters clubbed by Trump goons!"—and the situation...

PORTLAND, Ore. — Terrance Moses was watching protesters against police brutality march down his quiet residential street one recent evening when some in the group of a few hundred suddenly stopped and started yelling. Moses was initially not sure what the protesters were upset about, but as he got closer, he saw it: His neighbors had an American flag on display.

A few weeks ago, the slogan was "defund the police" and hire more social workers. Now, the real threat to citizens in blue cities is who wants to work as a police officer? Sadly, the left has accomplished what "defund the police" could not do. They have destroyed police forces by encouraging more and more officers to leave the force. Over the weekend, Portland's Mayor Wheeler got a taste of what happens when you don't support the police. as we see in this post by Victoria Taft: And now they are leaving. The cops, not the rioters. Nope, the county’s...

MOLALLA, Ore. (Reuters) - Nicole West steered her bulldozer through the smoldering forest, pushing logs into the underbrush and away from the wildfires ripping through Oregon's Cascade Mountains. Her border collie, Oink, rode shotgun as West and a volunteer crew raced to clear a fire line. Behind West, on the front lines of the 136,000-acre (55,000-hectare) Riverside fire, two young men pulled a water tank behind their pickup truck, struggling to douse the flames. These are the men and women of the "Hillbilly Brigade" - about 1,200 in all who came together this past week to fight the state’s biggest...

New York City was among three cities labeled “anarchist jurisdictions” by the Justice Department on Sunday and targeted to lose federal money for failing to control protesters and defunding cops, The Post has learned. Portland, Ore., and Seattle, Wash., were the other two cities on the list, which was approved by US Attorney General William Barr. “When state and local leaders impede their own law-enforcement officers and agencies from doing their jobs, it endangers innocent citizens who deserve to be protected, including those who are trying to peacefully assemble and protest,” Barr said in a statement set to be released...
