More than an hour into today's presidential rally at USC, actor Jamie Foxx led the crowd chant of "We're not exhausted." It's not much of a rallying cry. But for much of the crowd of 37,500, it wasn't even true. Attendees were made to stand in line for hours before being subjected to too many speakers and too much Ozomatli. By the time Jerry Brown hit the stage, he had to apologize for even being there. "I'm not going to talk too long," he said, drawing a chorus of cheers. By the time Obama took the stage -- at 2:05...

NEW YORK (AP) -- Wall Street's big March rally was officially on hold Monday as concerns about the future of the auto and financial industries led investors to take a break from buying. NBC's Tom Costello, on duty at the White House today, asked press secretary Robert Gibbs about some comments made by his CNBC colleague Jim Cramer. On the Today show this morning, Cramer called Pres. Obama's budget a "radical agenda," adding, "This is the greatest wealth destruction I've seen by a President." "I'm not entirely sure what he's pointing to to make some of the statements," said Gibbs. "And you can go back and look at any number of statements he's made in the past about the economy and wonder where some of the back-up for those are too." When pressed...

OK, we've had a bear market even if you count only the losses since Barack Obama was elected. What, don't investors know the MegaStimulus Package is on the way? Maybe instead of a guesstimated $500 billion, it should $1 trillion or maybe even $2 trillion (which I actually heard suggested on CNBC). Or maybe we should do what we did the last time we faced a severe economic downturn ...

Waxman wrestles gavel from Dingell By Mike Soraghan Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) will become the next chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee after House Democrats voted to replace current Chairman John Dingell (D-Mich.). Waxman won 137-122 in the secret ballot vote. The dramatic intra-party showdown for the coveted position signals a leftward turn for the Democratic agenda. The outcome was a blow to the seniority system and a victory, at least in perception, for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Though her aides denied it, many saw the hand of Pelosi in Waxman’s challenge for the post, which conveys...
