Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) said Tuesday that most recent immigrants who have come across the U.S.-Mexico border are “garbage.” Speaking to Larry Kudlow on Fox Business’s “Kudlow,” Tuberville segued from criticism of Vice President Harris as a presidential candidate to his views on immigration. “I mean, how can you put somebody in charge of a situation where you let 15, possibly even 20 million people come into our country? Now some of these people are good, but most of them are garbage. They come from jails and prisons in other countries,” he said. Tuberville repeated a series of false or...

Denver is cutting $5 million from public services used by its residents in order to pay for its spiraling illegal immigration costs, with the city’s mayor pinning the blame on Republicans and former President Donald Trump. Mayor Mike Johnston, a Democrat, announced on Friday that hours will be cut at recreation centers, and in-person vehicle registration renewals at the DMV will end, while the planting of spring flower beds will also be stopped to save the much-needed cash. The cuts follow the mayor’s decision last month to divert $25 million from the city budget to the migrant crisis. That plan...

The Biden administration is considering forcing some migrant families who enter the country without authorization to remain near the border in Texas while awaiting asylum screening, effectively limiting their ability to travel within the U.S., three U.S. officials told The Times. Administration officials have been considering the idea as a way to stem recent increases in the numbers of migrant families crossing the southern border, which reportedly reached an all-time high last month. Supporters of the remain-in-Texas idea, which has yet to be finalized, hope that it would help the administration advance its goals of quickly deporting families who fail...

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) on Thursday said it was a “terrible idea” for fellow GOP governors Ron DeSantis (Fla.) and Greg Abbott (Texas) to bus and fly migrants to progressive cities in a move to pressure President Biden to address a surge of migrants at the border. “I thought it was a mistake to basically do publicity stunts of busing people from the border into other states,” Hogan said during an appearance Thursday in New Hampshire. “Gov. DeSantis, who had nothing to do with the issue … grabbed fifty people and sent them to Martha’s Vineyard as a publicity...

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, who opened a criminal investigation this week into migrant flights to Martha's Vineyard, said Tuesday that the solution to the ongoing migrant crisis is to open up more legal pathways for people to come to the United States. "At some point, you’re going to have to embrace that this is happening to a certain extent. I would say, look, you’ve got people who want to work… and you've got a shortage of workers," he told CNN on Tuesday. "Hire these folks. Give them the opportunity to work legally, and then make sure that the employers...
