Local 12 reports that the masked man, Christopher Earl Smith, allegedly pointed a gun at customers in a convenience store and then walked toward five innocents in a park. The New York Post notes that police intervened as Smith approached the individuals in the park. Officer Anthony Malear ordered Smith to put his hands...

On April 6th, North Las Vegas mayor John Lee announced that he is no longer associated with the Democratic Party and has, instead, switched his affiliation to the Republicans. This move is a direct result of the push for socialism from the Democrats. The mayor explained on "Fox and Friends," “In the Democratic Party of Nevada, they had an election recently for leadership, and four of the five people were card-carrying members of the socialistic party. It’s not the party that I grew up with 25 years ago in this environment, and it’s not the party that I can stand...

LAS VEGAS—Former Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks has been arrested in California on charges including resisting arrest and throwing objects, just hours after he became the first lawmaker ever expelled from the Nevada Legislature. Jail records show Barstow police arrested Brooks, 41, at about 7 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 15 at Stoddard Wells. "We had started to discuss possible next steps," Mitchell Posin, Brooks' attorney, told The Associated Press Friday. "Next thing I know, I heard about this." Posin said he had no details about the arrest, or about why Brooks was on the interstate in Barstow. Records show the North...

The city council of North Las Vegas, the 4th largest city in Nevada (population 216,961) voted unanimously to suspend collective bargaining agreements made with public unions. In spite of having the highest property tax rates in the county, the city's budget is in a mess, wrecked by the busting of the housing bubble. According to Wikipedia the city's budget deficit was $8.6 million. A budget balanced through personnel layoffs was passed last May, but judges reversed some of those pink slips, creating a financial emergency that could require the state to take over North Las Vegas' finances.
