We agree with Army officials that an investigation into the case of Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin was merited. At the same time we wonder whether the Pentagon has considered the clear inconsistency in its treatment of Lakin, compared to that of another officer last year. Lakin is being investigated for two reasons: First, he refused to report for duty in Afghanistan, as ordered. Second, he used the YouTube video sharing Web site to question whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States. Again, an investigation is appropriate. The military simply cannot tolerate troops who refuse to follow orders....

FORT WORTH, Texas (Associated Press) -- An attorney says the Army psychiatrist charged in the worst mass shooting on a U.S. military base will soon be moved to a county jail near Fort Hood after four months in a military hospital. Defense attorney John Galligan says Maj. Nidal Hasan could be moved this week. Bell County Jail administrator Bob Patterson says Hasan will be housed in a cell at the medical unit. Patterson said Monday the facility is prepared to handle inmates with special medical needs.

BELTON (February 19, 2010)—Bell County Sheriff Dan Smith confirmed Friday that his office and Fort Hood officials have been talking for several weeks about transferring accused Fort Hood gunman Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan from a San Antonio military hospital to the Bell County Jail. Hasan is charged with 13 counts of murder in the shooting rampage on Nov. 5, 2009 at the post’s Soldier Readiness Center that left 13 dead and 29 injured. He was left paralyzed in an exchange of gunfire with two civilian police officers who are credited with ending the massacre. For 15 years, the Bell County...

Six Faulted Over Fort Hood Military to Discipline Officers for Failing to Report Views of Suspect in Texas Shootings By YOCHI J. DREAZEN The military will formally discipline at least six officers, mostly from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, for failing to take action against the officer accused of carrying out last year's deadly shooting rampage at Fort Hood, according to people familiar with the matter. Senior Army officials said the decision to punish so many officers reflects the military's belief that the November assault, which killed 13 people at the Army base in central Texas, could have...

In the Friday, February 5 Cincinnati Enquirer, Momitul Talukdar, a Walnut Hills High School student, wrote “Muslim-Americans suffering in silence,” which was published along with a large photo of her on the editorial page. There’s silence and then there’s silence. What is she silently suffering about in 27 column inches, including her smiling photo? An American citizen born in Bangladesh, she is upset about troops being sent to Afghanistan. Instead, “America should offer assistance.” All those fundamentalists holding up the Koran on TV do not represent Islam, no matter what they do and no matter what all their imams say....

An Iraqi doctor encouraged security officers at Brooke Army Medical Center to shoot him earlier this month after telling others that he planned to free accused Fort Hood shooter Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a federal agent testified Monday. FBI counterterrorism and military intelligence operatives took a hard look at Senan Kahtan Abrahem after he went to Fort Sam Houston on Jan. 6 and approached an information booth at BAMC about seeing Hasan, according to testimony at a bail hearing Monday for Abrahem. Abrahem, an immigrant living in San Antonio, was indicted last week on a federal charge of making a...

SNIPPET: "U.S. intelligence officials believe there are dozens -- perhaps hundreds - of Americans who have been in e-mail contact with the radical Yemeni cleric who is believed to have inspired and directed both the Fort Hood shooter and the failed Christmas Day airline bomber, the Investigative Project on Terrorism has learned. Efforts to learn the details of that communication, or even to target Anwar Al-Awlaki militarily, may be hindered by his status as an American citizen."

The Pentagon’s 86-page report on the Fort Hood massacre was “sanitized†to avoid discussing Islamic terrorism, the congressman who represents the base told POLITICO Monday. The report, released last week, says that the Army’s middle management missed signals about Nidal Malik Hasan in the months leading up to the mass shooting. But missing from the report is any discussion of what Rep. John Carter (R-Texas) said was the a “crisis†with Islamic terrorism. Hasan allegedly wore ritual Muslim garb shouted “God is great†in Arabic when opening fire on a group of soldiers on the base — facts Carter said...

There are two basic problems with the grotesque non-report on the Islamist- terror massacre at Fort Hood (released by the Defense Department yesterday): * It's not about what happened at Fort Hood. * It avoids entirely the issue of why it happened. Rarely in the course of human events has a report issued by any government agency been so cowardly and delusional. It's so inept, it doesn't even rise to cover-up level. "Protecting the Force: Lessons From Fort Hood" never mentions Islamist terror. Its 86 mind-numbing pages treat "the alleged perpetrator," Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, as just another workplace shooter...

A temporary lockdown of Fort Sam Houston was lifted by noon Wednesday after officials determined that a man who tried to visit Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was not a threat to the base's security. The man, whose name was not released, asked for an escort to Hasan's Brooke Army Medical Center hospital room around 9 a.m. He first said he was Hasan's lawyer, and then claimed to be his doctor, said hospital spokesman Dewey Mitchell. “The man was asked by BAMC security to leave, and he complied,” Mitchell said in an e-mail. The man was not arrested. The base was...

In the latest press release by Al Qaeda where they took responsibility for the terrorist attempt on the plane in Detroit they said the following: “We call on every soldier working in the crusader armies and puppet governments to repent to allah and follow the example of the hero Moujahid brother Nidal Hasan, and kill with all available tools every crusader to bring victory to religion of allah and to keep his word in the land.” From the context of the press release by “every soldier” they mean “every muslim soldier working in the US military and other Western militaries”....

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano insisted Sunday that there was no “specific and credible” information to put the alleged attempted bomber of Northwest Flight 253, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, on the federal “no fly” list. Yet for the second time in a month, the Obama administration finds itself defending its lack of action against a suspect whose tendencies toward radical Islam had been reported to authorities. The cases are, of course, different. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who is the only suspect in the attack that killed 13 people at Fort Hood on Nov. 5, was an American being tracked for corresponding...

(snipped) Hoekstra says that Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab may have a common link with the Fort Hood shooter that shot 13 people in November. AFP, Dec. 26: There was a suggestion of links between Abdulmutallab and radical US-born Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Aulaqi, who had contacts with the US army psychiatrist accused of gunning down 13 people at a Texas military base last month. "He may have been in contact with the American imam al-Aulaqi," Peter Hoekstra, the most senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee and a member of Congress for Michigan, told AFP.

A radical Muslim cleric claims Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Hasan asked him about killing American soldiers nearly a year before Hasan allegedly shot to death 13 fellow soldiers at Fort Hood. In an interview Wednesday with the Arabic-language news network Al-Jazeera, Anwar al-Awlaki, considered a key recruiter for al-Qaida, said Hasan asked him in a December 2008 e-mail "whether killing American soldiers and officers is lawful or not" under Islamic law. In the interview, Al-Awlaki then appears to taunt U.S. intelligence and security, saying, "I wonder where were the American security forces that one day claimed they can read the...

mam tied to Fort Hood shooter "killed" in Yemen raid Thu Dec 24, 3:39 am ET SANAA (Reuters) – A radical Muslim preacher linked by U.S. intelligence to a gunman who killed 13 people at a U.S. Army base is believed to have died in a Yemen airstrike on al Qaeda militants, a security official said on Thursday. "Anwar al Awlaki is suspected to be dead (in the air raid)," said the Yemeni official, who asked not to be identified. Yemen said 30 militants were killed in the strike in the eastern province of Shabwa.

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Army psychiatrist charged in last month's deadly shooting at Fort Hood has been moved from a hospital's intensive care unit to a private room, his attorney said Wednesday. Maj. Nidal Hasan remains under guard at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and is rehabilitating from wounds that left him paralyzed from the waist down, said attorney John Galligan. He said he was notified about the transfer on Tuesday. Doctors have said Hasan needs to be hospitalized at least two more months while he learns to care for himself, Galligan said.

WASHINGTON — Sen. Joe Lieberman, who chairs a Senate oversight committee, chided the Obama administration Tuesday for not providing information to lawmakers probing the Fort Hood killings. The Connecticut independent said his Homeland Security panel still has not received the personnel file of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the Army psychiatrist charged in the Nov. 5 shooting spree that left 13 people dead.

Obama Protects Terrorists Obama Refuses to Release Facts of Fort Hood Massacre OBAMA VIOLATES CONSTITUTION PROTECTS MUSLIM MAJOR by Paul L. Williams of thelastcrusade.org Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich.), ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, is charging the Obama administration with stalling to provide information to the leaders of the House and Senate and the congressional intelligence committees on the multiple murders committed by a radical Muslim Army officer at Fort Hood more than a month ago. The congressional leaders, Mr. Hoekstra maintains, have received no detailed, substantive briefing on the event and what is known about...

Many actions of Major Nidal Malik Hasan prior to the Ft. Hood massacre should have made it apparent to many that he was an Islamic jihadist yet he was left to remain among our American military patriots. Major Hasan gave a bizarre lecture to the medical staff while at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in which he said the Quaran teaches that infidels should have their heads cut off and set on fire. During other instances, Major Hasan had stated to other military personnel that Muslims had the right to rise up and attack Americans in retalliation for the war...
