White House hopeful Mitt Romney widened his lead over rival Newt Gingrich to 11 percentage points in Florida, according to Reuters/Ipsos online poll results on Saturday, up from 8 points a day earlier, as he cemented his front-runner status in the Republican nomination race. With just three days remaining before Florida's Republican primary, Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, led Gingrich, a former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, by 43 percent to 32 percent among likely voters in Florida's January 31 primary, the online poll said.

Speaking on MSNBC’s "Morning Joe," former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani praised Newt Gingrich and criticised Mitt Romney as a flip-floppoer. “I’ve never seen a guy change his positions on so many things, so fast, on a dime, on everything,” Giuliani said about the former Massachusetts governor. “Pro-choice, pro-life. And pro-choice because somebody, a close friend, died, and he became pro-choice because this woman died of an abortion. Then he figures out there are embryos and he changes. “Then he was pro-gun control,” Giuliani opined. “Fine. Then he becomes a lifetime member of the NRA. Then he was pro-cap-and-trade....

On Saturday night’s “Justice with Jeanine” on the Fox News Channel, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin once again stopped just short of giving former House Speaker Newt Gingrich her outright endorsement for the Republican nomination. In her appearance, she explained that despite criticisms of Gingrich’s long career in Washington, D.C., she doesn’t consider him part of the establishment because that same “establishment” is trying to hard to keep him from becoming the nominee.

Mr. Gingrich represents a new kind of Catholic, one very different from the Kennedys, who were Democrats, political liberals and cradle Catholics shaped by the Irish immigrant church. To a Kennedy-era Catholic, divorce was a sin, labor unions were a virtue and anti-Catholic bigotry was a staple in many Protestant circles. Mr. Gingrich is a culture wars Catholic for whom the church seems a logical home for conservative Republicans. Generations removed from the Kennedy years when Catholics predictably voted Democratic, this is a new era in which conservative Catholics and evangelical Protestants have joined forces in what they see as...

If you asked me even a couple of weeks ago whether the Republican Party could heal from the wounds of this election cycle in time to unite against Obama, I would have said ”Yes.” I’m not so sure anymore. After the South Carolina primary the Republican establishment, and media supporters like Matt Drudge, launched Scorched Earth II on Newt, while pro-Romney pundits like Ann Coulter heaped scorn on the conservative and Tea Party voters who sided with Newt. It may just be “not-beanbag” to the Romney campaign and its supporters, but people hear them loud and clear. Two lines of...

This is nothing new, as campaigns have been paying people to become active for years now. And it is not illegal, as far as I know. There's nothing wrong with paying someone to help spread a message. However, it does show the limited motivations within the Romney campaign. There is not much grassroots here in South Florida if people have to be paid to get out and spread a critical message about the future of this country.

May I recommend reparations between now through Tuesday agreeing all together that we lend some small but daily sacrifice to our Lord, for our intentions, and to humble ourselves and to pray, and fast or abstain, or offer some small repair for ourselves, for our CHURCHES, our country and for Newt? Would we express sorrow for the many ways we let our Lord down by our own sins, our faults and flaws and by so doing we neglect our Lord and the kingdom of God on earth? This would just mean to go without that single extra cup of coffee,...

Newt Gingrich has proposed a very aggressive, comprehensive, supply side, jobs and economic recovery plan. That includes an optional 15% flat tax, reducing the federal corporate tax rate to 12.5%, eliminating the tax on capital gains, abolishing the death tax, and immediate expensing for capital investment. The plan includes as well reforming the Fed to mandate that it follow a price rule to maintain a stable dollar without inflation. It would also slash regulatory costs and barriers, including repeal of Dodd-Frank, Sarbanes-Oxley, and Obamacare, replacing the EPA, and modernizing the FDA. It would especially roll back regulatory barriers to energy...

The cat's out of the bag... Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, a Romney supporter, went on The Record last night. The Florida Republican told Greta Van Susteren that Mitt wants Romneycare in every state. She also said she would be on Romney's Health Care Advisory Team when he's president. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi who's fighting to repeal ObamaCare appeared on Greta, tonight, defending RomneyCare. She says Romney's health care plan is not the same as ObamaCare and, in fact, Romney's plan reduces costs. She goes on to say that Romney wants all states to impose similar laws (including mandates)...

One of the nation's most influential Christian and family leaders, the Rev. Donald E. Wildmon, says Sarah Palin is right, Newt Gingrich is being "crucified" by the Republican establishment and forces allied with Mitt Romney. Wildmon, founder of the American Family Association, has strongly endorsed Gingrich for president, and this week has been urging fellow believers to vote in Florida's primary for the former House Speaker. Wildmon has spent decades on the front-lines of the battle to protect American families and says Gingrich is the best choice for Christian conservatives who want a president to stand against a rising tide...

Just days before the South Carolina primary, polls showed Mitt Romney leading Newt Gingrich. Then came the debates and the question about Gingrich's private life, which brought a devastating response from the former Speaker of the House -- and a standing ovation from the audience. Apparently the television audience felt the same way, judging by the huge turnaround in the support for Gingrich. The stunning victory in South Carolina brought Newt's candidacy back to life. But the message from South Carolina was about more than a reaction to how Gingrich dealt with a cheap shot question from the media. Nor...
