The Bambino stands in the center of the stage, untouchable, uncatchable, unbeatable. He is Newt Gingrich, and he has become the Sultan of Swat. It is Saturday night at yet another Republican debate and — wham! wham! wham! — Gingrich keeps blasting them out of the park. Mitt Romney claims he should be president, because, unlike Newt, Romney is not a “career politician.” “Let’s be candid,” Newt replies. “The only reason you didn’t become a career politician is that you lost to Ted Kennedy in 1994.” Wham! Newt, like the real Bambino, Babe Ruth, is a man of appetites. For...

While the entire elite insider structure of both parties in a full tizzy over the out-of -the crypt rise of Newt Gingrich -- and the national pundit class totally vexed by it -- allow me to unlock the deep dark mystery that has them all scratching their pointy little heads. It's the persuasion, stupid. Now before you slough that off as too simple and too shallow of an analysis, keep in mind how rare true persuasion is these days in politics. And by true persuasion, I mean the ability to persuade voters to consider changing their minds to agree with...

After the November 22 Republican debate in Washington, D.C., many conservatives took issue with Newt Gingrich's proposal to establish a system of local boards of review to assess the cases of illegal immigrants who have lived in the United States for twenty-five years. While his opponents on stage chose to focus on concerns that the plan would entrench a powerful new "magnet" for illegal aliens, others isolated the strangest aspect of Gingrich's proposal, which was his explicit description of such long-established illegal immigrants as "law-abiding citizens." How, people reasonably asked, can an illegal alien who has never been granted U.S....

Riding a burst of support from elderly Republicans, Newt Gingrich has surged to a clear lead in Florida less than two months from the state's pivotal presidential primary on Jan. 31. With rival Herman Cain out of the race, Gingrich is gathering momentum from the tea party movement and conservative voters, a sign that former frontrunner Mitt Romney has failed to make the sale with Florida Republicans. Some Gingrich backers boasted last week that the Florida primary essentially could lock up the nomination for Gingrich. But the former U.S. House speaker, prone to provocative ideas and self-destructive remarks, now faces...

In an interview on Saturday, Newt Gingrich put some reality into the surreal discussion of the Middle East conflict and (as he put it) the delusional nature of the current “peace process.” The Palestinians are indeed an “invented people” — invented by the Nasser dictatorship and KGB by the way — and the Hitlerian lie that Israel occupies one square inch of “Arab” let alone “Palestinian” land needs to be buried for any clarity on what the conflict is about, let alone progress towards peace. Of course there is no peace in the Middle East and there can be no...

Surprise US Republican presidential front-runner says it's time to stop with the lies, and to conduct Middle East peace process based on historical facts - there are no "Palestinians" One of the candidates who currently has a very real chance at becoming the next president of the United States could fundamentally alter Middle East peace-making were he to stick to his campaign platform and rhetoric after taking office. In an interview with The Jewish Channel on Friday, former House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich, who has become a surprise Republican presidential front-runner of late, stated that the entire basis of...

Please view this video series where Newt expresses his principles, his understanding of our founding principles and ideals, his ideas on running against Obama and the socialist left, and notice the stark differences in knowledge, understanding and grasp of domestic and world affairs, freedom vs socialism, contrasting viewpoints, substance, style, even speaking ability (no notes, no teleprompter, etc) as compared to Obama (or even McCain, Romney, establishment GOP, et al). It'd be a great pleasure for me to campaign, support and vote for someone I can really agree with on most issues, respect, appreciate and get excited about rather than...

The Illinois African American Libertarian Alliance (IAALA) is home to hundreds of Chicago African American conservatives and has decided to endorse Newt Gingrich for the upcoming 2012 election. “Newt Gingrich represents the values of many conservatives—White, Latino, or Black. He is honest about who he is and is the perfect person to turn a falling country around,” says IAALA President David Lemar.

President Obama's attack dogs have a new target — Newt Gingrich. The Democratic National Committee on Sunday released a campaign ad that tags Gingrich as the “original Tea Partier.” The ad hit the Internet less than four hours after Gingrich showed he could take the heat as the latest Republican front-runner during Saturday’s GOP primary debate in Iowa. Gingrich’s foes warned his temper would erupt under a combined grilling from his opponents and the media. But he didn’t self-destruct, and so became the latest target of the Obama re-election campaign, which until now had reserved its ammo for Mitt Romney....

Gingrich: Health Insurance Mandate 'Started As Conservative Effort to Stop Hillarycare' By Terence P. Jeffrey December 11, 2011 (CNSNews.com) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Saturday defended his previous support of a federal mandate requiring people to buy health insurance by saying that "virtually every conservative saw the mandate as a less dangerous future" than the health-care plan being advanced by then-First Lady Hillary Clinton in 1993 and that the idea of mandating that people buy health insurance "started as a conservative effort to stop Hillarycare in the 1990s." As recently as this May, Gingrich defended what he called...

"In a new NBC/Marist poll, Newt Gingrich has surged into the lead in Iowa, but Mitt Romney's big lead in New Hampshire remains. NBC's Mike Viqueira and David Gregory report." Newt Gingrich’s surge in the polls isn’t limited to just the early presidential-nominating contest of Iowa. According to new NBC News-Marist polls, the former House speaker has now opened up commanding leads in South Carolina and Florida -- two states that historically have played important roles in deciding the eventual Republican nominee. Fueled by the support from conservatives and the Tea Party, Gingrich is ahead of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt...

Mandates and Candidates December 11, 2011 12:06 A.M. By Terence P. Jeffrey We all believe in giving government control of major parts of our lives sometime. That was one of the themes advanced by the apparent Republican frontrunners — Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich — in Saturday night’s debate on ABC. The tell-tale moment came at approximately 9:35 Eastern time, when Texas governor Rick Perry challenged former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney for signing a law forcing people to buy health insurance in Massachusetts. Romney answer was: You’re for mandates, too. “You had a mandate in your state,” Romney said to...

Professor vs. Professor By ROSS DOUTHAT IN 2004, the Democrats were furious at what they considered the fraud to end all frauds: the selling of George W. Bush as a decisive military leader and all-American tough guy. So they nominated John Kerry for the presidency, hoping that having a real combat veteran as their standard-bearer — a bemedaled war hero, no less, who began his convention speech by announcing that he was “reporting for duty” — would finally expose Bush as the tinhorn chicken hawk that liberals believed him to be. The conventional wisdom holds that Mitt Romney is the...

Last night's debate was very contentious and it was amazing how everyone kept piling on Newt Gingrich, even on issues in which they agreed with him. Take the discussion about Newt's comments on the "Palestinians". For example, Newt had previously said that the "Palestinians" were an "invented people" (not that individual "Palestinians" were invented but that there has never in history been a distinct culture or group known as "Palestinians"). The big criticism there was that he was telling the truth but maybe he shouldn't have. So now even Republican candidates have to be politically correct? They can't say something...

Newt Gingrich broke though taboos against challenging Palestinian Authority double talk and re-writing history, forcing Mitt Romney to admit he is right – but adding that saying so is incendiary.” Gingrich, who is leading the polls for the Republican presidential nomination, angered the Palestinian Authority with his remarks in a televised interview in which he stated that "an invented Palestinian people…are in fact Arabs." PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad told reporters in response, “These are extremely trivial, demeaning and ridiculous remarks. Even the most extremist settlers of Israel wouldn’t talk in such a ridiculous way. Our people have been here...

DES MOINES, Iowa — White House hopeful Newt Gingrich took the gloves off Saturday as he defended his frontrunner status in a feisty debate among the narrowing field of Republican presidential contenders. Faced with a barrage of attacks on his conservative credentials, history of adultery and controversial remarks calling Palestinians an "invented" people, the former House speaker played tough and kept his cool as he stood his ground. Slammed by his rivals for "stirring up trouble," Gingrich insisted that "the Palestinian claim to a right of return is based on a historically false story," adding: "These people are terrorists. They...
