New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) responded to Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen’s Monday press conference by stressing that she does not need a sheriff giving her a “lecture on constitutionality.” Breitbart News reported that Allen used his press conference to make clear that neither he nor his deputies will enforce Grisham’s ban on concealed and open carry of firearms. He described the ban as “unconstitutional.” In video published by ABQ Raw, Allen said, “I hold my standards high and I do not, nor ever will, hedge on what is right. I take my oath seriously.” He went on...

Do governors have the authority to suspend parts of the federal constitution? Legally, the answer is absolutely not. Four new lawsuits filed in federal court from New Mexico will likely result in a reversal of Michelle Lujan Grisham’s absurd declaration that the Second Amendment does not apply in her state during a temporary “emergency” she declared unilaterally. What about the political answer to such a declaration, apparently without any consultation of the state legislature, let alone the US Constitution? Governors operate under authority granted by both the federal and state constitutions, not the other way around. A personal order to...

An asteroid hit during NASA’s successful DART mission in Sept. 2022 is acting mysteriously, and it’s not clear why. Back in 2022, NASA tested their DART mission to see if we’re capable of altering the trajectory of an asteroid. To do so, NASA crashed a probe into the target, Dimorphos, and successfully changed its trajectory. Dimorphos’s orbit around the larger asteroid, Didymos, was shortened by 33 minutes within weeks of the impact. But then, something else started happening. High school teacher Jonathan Swift at California’s Thatcher School and his students used an observatory at the institution to keep track of...

The Florida Governor isn't missing a chance to make a Second Amendment case. New Mexico is called the Land of Enchantment. Yet Florida’s Governor is notably disenchanted with the Southwestern state after its Democratic Governor took a stand against guns. “Just a few months after ending the COVID ‘public health emergency,’ the Governor of New Mexico has declared a new ‘public health emergency’: Guns. She is now asserting the power to infringe on Second Amendment rights by executive fiat. This assertion is not surprising — since 2020, ‘public health’ has become a pretext for depriving citizens of civil liberties and...
