Report: Internal IRS investigation found conservative abuse in May 2012
A year ago, an Internal Revenue Service internal review concluded that conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status were being excessively targeted by the agency. The Washington Post reported Tuesday that IRS officials revealed the findings of the internal review to congressional investigators last Monday. IRS senior technical advisor Nancy Marks led the investigation, the Post reports, under the direction of then-deputy commissioner Steven Miller.
