Washington - A Minnesota congresswoman has introduced a bill that seeks to prevent the United States from funding Israel’s military detention of Palestinian children. The legislation introduced Tuesday by Rep. Betty McCollum, a Democrat, has at least nine co-sponsors. It would require the secretary of state to certify annually that U.S. assistance to Israel has not been used in the previous year to militarily detain, interrogate or abuse Palestinian children. Embattled actor George Takei has apologized for a recent interview with Howard Stern in which he joked about sexually assaulting men, after the former Star Trek star was accused last week of groping a male model in an alleged incident in 1981. In a social media post, Takei said he attempted to play the role of a “naughty gay grandpa” whilst appearing on the radio show, adding that it was a “caricature that I now regret.” “Many have raised concern over a back-and-forth between Howard Stern and myself, where we joked about me touching men during my ‘Star Trek’ days...

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. — A Massachusetts woman is still recovering more than a week after a pit bull bit her while she was waiting to check in for a flight. Brittany Langlois was standing in the check in line for JetBlue at the Orlando Airport before her flight back home when a pit bull tore at her leg. “The line kept moving and the next thing I know I am bit,” Langlois said. “I turn around and the owner is reeling the dog back in. Langlois was with her girlfriend Heather Cox and the couple immediately tried to find out if...

When Susan Fowler rocked Uber’s world with a meticulous account of the company’s sexual harassment and gender discrimination issues, the ride-sharing service turned to its only female board member to help clean up its culture (and its image). Arianna Huffington was perfectly poised to position herself as the feminist savior who would advocate for Uber’s women—she oversaw the subsequent Eric Holder investigation, and promised that “no brilliant jerks will be allowed, and no one will be protected because they are top performers.” But being a powerful woman with a stake in a company, and its profits, doesn’t mean Huffington was...

Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday pushed back on the immediate need for a second special counsel to investigate former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. It would take "a factual basis that meets the standard of a special counsel" for the Justice Department to make such an appointment, he said during a heated exchange with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) at a Tuesday House Judiciary Committee meeting. Jordan made a fiery case for allegations of improper spying on the Trump campaign by the Obama administration DOJ that widely touted amongst Capitol Hill Republicans. Sessions at first demurred, noting that Comey is...

A pre-trial motions hearing for Dallas Bandido Christopher Jake Carrizal is set for March 16, 2018. The motion was filed on Monday. Channel 6 Legal Expert Liz Mitchell said, in theory, the role of Carrizal's trial in the series of Twin Peaks biker trials was supposed to set the precedent for how the other 153 bikers would be handled. Mitchell said generally the state would want to begin with the case they deemed to be a lock. In other words, prosecutors would lead with the case most promising of securing a life sentence. Then, the other bikers would see what...

The Age of Sex Robots is upon us. Numerous science fiction authors, with a degree of jittery anticipation, have predicted this development for years. Yet it has not seemed feasible until recently. The New York Times just ran a substantial profile on the impending rise of virtual reality porn and sex robots, and stirrings of anxious excitement are palpable in other media outlets. A strange and terrible new world is dawning, but let’s not cue up “Also Sprach Zarathustra” quite yet. Far from being a boon dispensed from on high, the impending sex robot revolution threatens to destroy our entire...

Are key Republican leaders in D.C. from the Senate, House and Supreme Court being blackmailed? Tell me you haven’t thought the exact same thing? Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in DC. Rotten like a dead fish left at the front door of a Congressmen’s office by the Obama Crime Family. Rotten like a photo of a Supreme Court Justice with his robe down at his ankles.

Over in one corner sat Alice, a strong-minded 27-year-old who always said what she thought, regardless of how much it might hurt someone else. In the other corner was Sarah, a thirtysomething high-flier who would stand up for herself momentarily - then burst into tears and run for the ladies. Their simmering fight lasted hours, egged on by spectators taking sides and fuelling the anger. Sometimes other girls would join in, either heckling aggressively or huddling defensively in the toilets. It might sound like a scene from a tawdry reality show such as Big Brother, but the truth is a...

Ivanka and Tiffany Trump may be half-sisters, but the two first daughters live very different lives. The latest proof came this week, when Tiffany Trump was spotted at a Washington, D.C. Indian restaurant... as Ivanka Trump got ready to actually tour India. The Washington Post reported that Georgetown Law student Tiffany Trump and a friend spent Monday night at Rasika, which includes such choices on the menu as tandoori chicken tikka (made with chili, garlic, garam masala and mint chutney) and Bengali shrimp curry (made with onion seeds, fennel and cumin). Ivanka Trump's glamorous life is constantly compared to Tiffany...

University of Miami football is in the midst of a renaissance. The U is currently a perfect 9-0 after blowing out third-ranked Notre Dame 41-8 on Saturday night, and figures to be in a prime position to make the College Football Playoff if they can reel off a few more wins. But for the second straight week, their game was marred by a violent incident in the stands. In the video above (via 5th Year), you can see a rowdy group of fans representing Miami and Notre Dame — two longtime rivals — furiously throwing down in the concourse of...

Humanity has a massive password problem. We might call it The Password Pandemic. Computers keep getting faster and cheaper, making passwords easier to crack, while human operators do not change their bad password habits. This is a losing proposition, with the advantage clearly toward hackers and cyber criminals. Most users of the Internet now know that they need to use “strong” passwords, and that they should use a different password for each site. With a dozen or several dozen online accounts, this quickly becomes unmanageable. Exasperated, people just use the same (usually weak) password across several accounts. Hackers know this,...

Wonder Woman is using her super powers to stand up for women in Hollywood. A month after canceling to appear at a dinner to honor Brett Ratner, Gal Gadot still has a lot to say about the famed director and the accusations mounting against him. Now, Gal says she won't reprise her role for future "Wonder Woman" movies unless Brett Ratner is not involved, reports Page Six. Brett Ratner's production company produced the film in conjunction with Warner Brothers. "Wonder Woman" has already brought in over $400 million. But if Gal Gadot has anything to say about it, the producer...

On his way to the United Nations climate talks in Bonn, Germany, this week, Jerry Brown stopped over at the Vatican, where a doleful group of climate scientists, politicians and public health officials had convened to discuss calamities that might befall a warming world. The prospects were so dire—floods and fires, but also forced migration, famine and war—that some of the participants acknowledged difficulty staving off despair. California’s doomsayer governor did not express much optimism either. Seated between an economist and an Argentine bishop at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, Brown leaned into his microphone and said, “It is despairing....

WACO – In a sworn affidavit, former lead prosecutor Greg Davis of the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office details item for item the allegations he made as early as 2014 in a federal probe of official misconduct by elected Criminal DA Abel Reyna. Davis met with FBI Special Agent Dan Burst to outline his concerns of factual allegations regarding favoritism shown political supporters in dropping serious cases; the extensive use of special prosecutors to soft soap cases that demanded their day in court; a pre-trial intervention program that is a transparent wash in serious offenses committed by repeat offenders, many...

While the cat’s away… Hope Hicks has been accused of stealing the spotlight from Melania Trump while the president visited Asia. Well, as Melania headed home, Hope busted out another eye-catching outfit in Vietnam! Winter might be settling in throughout the northern hemisphere, but Hope Hicks, 29, was a springtime vision when she arrived at the Vietnamese presidential palace on Nov. 12,. The White House communications director wore a flirty, fun dress with puffy sleeves and a very elegant floral print. To complement this lovely look, Hope had her hair pulled back into a bun, appearing as if she was...

It’s why, at Powderhorn’s May Day Cafe, a small sign taped to the counter bears a polite request: “The May Day Cafe asks that you use gender-neutral language when addressing its employees. Thank you.” A similar note, modeled after May Day’s, went up next to the cash register at Taco Cat’s Midtown Global Market stall in September: “Please use gender-neutral language when addressing our staff. Thanks for being a pal.” “I think gendered language is pretty integrated in restaurant culture,” says Taco Cat co-owner Tristan Jimerson. “I’ve been working in restaurants for a long time, and sir-ing and ma’am-ing people,...
