The Trump administration is further delaying Obama-era protections for students defrauded by for-profit colleges, saying it needs more time to write new regulations. Tuesday’s announcement renewed criticism by Democrats and advocacy groups that the administration favors the interests of for-profit universities over students. The Education Department posted a notice in the Federal Register saying it wants to delay the borrower defense rule until July 1, 2019, while a new rule is being written. The department estimated that postponing the rule will save taxpayers $46 million. The regulation allows students to have their loans forgiven if their schools deceived them about...

Forgive the vanity, but I heard Flake say in an interview the path to the nomination for a "Republican" is very narrow. Could he or will he run as a Democrat?

Five teenagers from Michigan have been charged with second-degree murder after being accused of throwing a rock off an overpass that killed a man, according to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office. The "Uraniumgate" scandal is opening links to 3 other scandals. 1. When Bill Clinton went to Russia in 2010 to give a speech to a Russian bank about nuclear energy he requested, from the State Dept., permission to meet with 15 Russian leaders, one of whom was Arkady Davorkovich, who was on board of the Russian Atomic Energy Agency. Clinton did not, ultimately, meet with Davorkovich but he did meet with Putin. This request came at the same time he got half-a-million dollars for the speech AND while his wife was sitting on the board that approved the sale of...

5 recipes @ link ~~~ Sometimes spelled baloney (as it is pronounced), Bologna has been one of the more popular luncheon meats for decades. •Favorite bologna sandwich garnishes are mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomato, and onion. •Bologna is derived from and is somewhat similar to the Italian mortadella (a finely hashed/ground port sausage) that originated in Bologna, Italy. •United States government regulations require American bologna to be finely ground and without visible pieces of lard. •Bologna can alternatively be made out of chicken, turkey, beef, pork, venison or soy protein. •Bologna Bowl – When a slice of bologna...

Can anyone help me find the pictures of the National Guard "securing valuables" in Santa Rosa CA. I saw the pictures in the Press Democrat but was busy fighting fire and securing property. The pictures will be of particular interest for Freepers. It is of the Guard prying open gun safes. I call foul on the caption. If you find it, you may want to start a new post. There was a definite effort to reduce people's ability to secure their property. My road is still on lock down but the school is open. I may not go in but...

A Twin Peaks shootout defense attorney claims a 2013 email from an FBI agent to local authorities proves McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna lied when he claimed last week he is not now, nor has ever been, under federal investigation. Waco attorney Robert Callahan, who is representing biker William Chance Aikin, of Talco, released an email from FBI agent Dan Brust to Waco police detective Sherry Kingrey and two other local investigators sent in February 2013. In the email, Brust asks all three investigators about unspecified information regarding “the potential corruption,” and possible information confidential informants may have. “It...

You probably didn’t know that in Homestead, Florida, there is an ancient pyramid built by aliens. I mean space aliens, not the kind from Haiti and Cuba. I didn’t know about the monument either, even though I used to live in southern Florida. Most people think it is just a weird structure called Coral Castle built by a man named Edward Leedskalnin. Leedskalnin claimed to be from Latvia, which I believe is one of the moons of Jupiter. He immigrated to the United States in 1912. He weighed about 100 pounds and stood only about five feet tall. Since the...

Any Las Vegas news on the innocent life that are now with Jesus? I guess the 3 week news cycle is about the time that America forgets about innocent life and moves on to corrupt politicians and Congress women with synthetic hats. No news is good news so they say. No. Millions of us waiting for the FBI to show up, along with A poor Sheriff that is, imho, being told to stand down

Pastor Jim Bakker said on his television program today that “unsaved people are going insane” because they can’t handle the fact that President Trump honors God. “Unsaved people are going insane,” he said. “They can’t take it. They can’t believe that a person was elected to the presidency that honored God, that wants to keep the cross on top of your church and Jesus in your heart.” Bakker said that while Trump “wants to stop killing the babies,” his opponents are fighting to keep abortion legal despite the fact that “this is one of the main reasons … judgment finally...

Watch out, publishers: a nightmare scenario for Facebook may soon be a reality. The social network last week officially launched its secondary news feed called Explore. The feed generally features posts from Facebook Pages users don't follow. News Feed, meanwhile, hosts posts from friends and Pages users do follow. But that's not true for everyone. In six markets, Facebook has removed posts from Pages in the original News Feed and relegated them to another feed, Filip Struhárik, editor and social media manager at Denník N, wrote. That means Facebook's main feed is no longer a free playing field for publishers....

Video at link and it's 11:06 minutes long. This vlogger was pretty good in past predictions. He was generally first to discuss the last hurricane when it was still a tropical storm. In this video, he discusses wind patterns and a tropical disturbance that may become a hurricane and if so, that it will be named Phillipe. He notes that the details surrounding the formation and projected track of the disturbance are strikingly similar to the formation of hurricane Sandy. He notes that there is currently only a 40% chance that the disturbance will become a storm.

Because people are tending to listen to the extreme left-wing liberal media instead of listening to what Trump says and does, here are his official sources where he posts his personal comments and official presidential actions. If you want to know what Trump says, then all you need to do is read his tweets. No Twitter account is needed. Trump Twitter Account For his official presidential actions, go to the following Presidential Action web page that is posted by the Whitehouse. It has his executive orders, memoranda, and proclamations. Presidential Actions DO NOT listen to the liberal media claiming anything....

When conservative author and talk radio host Laura Ingraham sits down in the anchor chair on Oct. 30 for the first time as a host on Fox News’ evening lineup, the cable network will be making a multi-prong bet. The first is that its audience will gladly stomach another evening hour of ardent Donald Trump boosterism. Already, there are signs of trouble. A number of Fox staffers are dreading the possibility of working for Ingraham, who, even among the healthy egos that populate America’s cable newsrooms, has built a reputation as overbearing. According to numerous sources, Ingraham has been,

One of the most devastating political earthquakes in modern American history took place between 10PM and Midnight in the inner rooms of the Clinton campaign in their VIP suite on the top floor of the Peninsula Hotel in Manhattan. The day started auspiciously enough, with RealClearPolitics continuing to show Hillary Clinton in the lead, just as she had led the polling average for the past 98 days. RCP predicted that Hillary Clinton would win 297 electoral votes to Trump’s 241, comfortably surpassing the 270 needed for victory. This prediction was mirrored by polling “guru” Nate Silver’s vaunted 538 website, which...

I am hoping that some of our techie FReepers could give me some guidance on this annoying issue. I have a Samsung "smart" TV which is a couple of years old, which I use exclusively to watch Netflix movies ( I don't watch TV and have not for at least 35 years. But I enjoy watching family fare movies). It is not the latest and greatest TV with all the cutting edge stuff. I see "1080" appear in a box when it first comes on, if that helps. I have a cable internet modem with its own wi-fi hotspot. I...

I flew out out of MCO this afternoon. I was in a security screening line that was not moving. After about 10 minutes of literally not moving a foot, I heard "all the people in the left two lines are getting a preview of screening in 2018, all food, electronics, candies and anything larger than a cell phone must be removed from your carry on luggage". I snuck over to a different line and got through, but this means the TSA theatre will now require that you remove everything from your carry on. My DSLR camera, lenses and flash are...
