Forget selling the Brooklyn Bridge to some gullible Democrat. How about a bridge in Baltimore? Here’s an idea: offer to name it the Donald Trump Bridge if Trump can get it rebuilt in six months? (With the proviso he doesn’t have to put up with any Baltimore/Buttigieg Bureaucratic nonsense.) Who doubts that he could do it? I suspect the building trades, steelworkers, etc., would work overtime at regular wages to make it happen. Because you know why they would.

"Inside the hall, the three presidents sat in matching white armchairs and took the stage to strains of 'Born to Run' by Bruce Springsteen, the unofficial bard of the Democratic Party...." I'm reading "4 Presidents, 2 Events and a Preview of Campaign Clashes to Come/President Biden raised $25 million at a Radio City Music Hall event, adding to his huge cash edge, after Donald Trump pushed his law-and-order message at a wake for a police officer killed on duty" (NYT). Three Presidents were sitting in white armchairs before people who'd paid up to $500,000 apiece to sit in the audience...

Social media star YourFellowArab has been taken hostage in Haiti by one of the gangs who have become de-facto leaders in the midst of the violence that has ravaged the Caribbean island. YourFellowArab, whose real name is Addison Pierre Maalouf, was on the island to interview the man known popularly as Jimmy 'Barbecue' Cerisier, the most powerful gang leader in the country. On March 14, Maalouf was taken by a gang known as the 400 Mawozo, led by kingpin Lanmo 100 jou, who is on the FBI most wanted list. Maalouf is being held for a ransom of $600,000. Around...

Spring is a wonderful time of year. Despite T.S. Eliot’s line that “April is the cruelest month,” spring is a time of renewal, a good time to remind ourselves to open up to new facets of life. One of the best things about spring, to me, is the opening of the baseball season. I am a fervent baseball fan. To me, there is a good deal of metaphysics in baseball. You start out at a place called home, then you go on a little journey like the Prodigal Son, the aim being to return home. The ones who go home...

I cannot type an original post. How do I fix these problems?

The First Lady Jill Biden hit a new low over the weekend when she outrageously compared the Republican-led state of Florida to Nazi Germany as she desperately tries to campaign for her husband amidst his abysmal approval ratings. While speaking to an audience of Democrats in California who had paid $100,000 a ticket to see her, Jill claimed that $100,000 a ticket. The government of Ukraine has seized a historic 12th-century cathedral from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), through a court challenge. The government has been harassing the UOC for years, pushing priests and worshipers to switch their allegiance to the Kiev-approved Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Members of the canonical church have been accused of being Russian collaborators.

"Di Leo: The Cheap Mercedes and the Beautiful Bridge" I am told that there is a saying in the used car business: “Nothing is more expensive than a cheap Mercedes.” That’s not to say that it’s not possible to get a good price on a used Mercedes. It probably is. But the buyer must remember that people who buy new luxury cars are people who can afford the repairs on them. And even though that used car may be cheaper than a new car, once it’s in your possession, everything else that goes wrong, from brakes to HVAC, from shocks...

What Values Are On The Ballot In 2024? by John F. Di Leo We hear candidates talk about their values – their parties’ values – their supporters’ values – and of course, America’s values – all the time. We used to be able to reasonably sure what those values were, by listening to their speeches and reading their party platforms, but it’s not always that easy anymore. In recent years, particularly since the twin assaults of the sexual revolution and the carbon dioxide fantasy overwhelmed the Democratic party, it has been harder to get a clear reading on the values...

The tragedy in Baltimore with the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge is fresh. Brave people are currently searching the dangerous tangled wreckage for any possible survivors and the dead. But where the news media this morning is also talking about the impacts on shipping on the East Coast of the USA and the impacts on traffic on the East Coast it is a valid topic of discussion to consider the next steps. 1. Reopening the Port of Baltimore will be a priority. The NTSB will predictably conduct a speedy investigation and conclude the primary cause of the collapse...

We’ve traced the drift of President Biden and his team away from Israel toward the side of Hamas in the current war. You might say they’re selling Israel out, but it’s not clear what they’re getting in return. You might say they don’t know what they’re doing, but one fears that they do. They seek the survival of Hamas as Israel seeks to complete its campaign to eliminate it as a force in Gaza. Thus the administration’s abstention on the Ramadan ceasefire resolution adopted by the United Nations Security Council yesterday. What has Ramadan got to do with it? Hinging...

On Monday 18 March, Israel arrested Al Jazeera ‘journalist’ Ismail Al Ghoul. As usual all was not as it seemed. Since October 7 we have witnessed a complete breakdown in the quality and honesty of western media coverage on Israel. The media lens has never treated Israeli fairly, but since the Hamas attack many of the world’s most famous media brands have reached a whole new level of toxicity . In fact, mainstream media outlets have been caught lying so many times they have started to defend themselves by blaming Israel – suggesting it is because Israel won’t let them...

Remember the WNBA? The women’s basketball league the NBA started to draw more women into watching basketball? In it’s inaugural season, the WNBA finals drew 2.85 million viewers, when the Houston Comets won the first of their four championships. It’s never reached those heights again, and the Comets folded in 2008. There was a mild uptick to 728,000 viewers last year. So you’d think the league would welcome an exciting, highly skilled new breakout player. You’d be wrong. - “For almost three decades the WNBA has been a laughing stock and disgrace of a professional sports league that only survives...

Employees of UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, participated in the October 7 attack on Israel, raping, torturing and murdering Jews in tandem with Hamas jihadists and taking Israelis and Americans hostage. Such deadly collaboration should come as no surprise. As Paul Johnson showed in his masterful Modern Times, the United Nations has always been hostile to the West in general and the USA and Israel in particular. “The notion that Israel was created by imperialism is not only wrong but the reverse of the truth,” writes Johnson. “Everywhere in the West, the foreign offices, defense ministries and...

“My guest is Christine Blasey Ford,” said NPR’s Terry Gross on her March 19 “Fresh Air” show. “She testified at Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing that he sexually assaulted her.” Blasey Ford has a new book, One Way Back, and in the lengthy interview the author explains:I did retraumatize myself, having to go back through everything and relive it. And I tried to write a book a couple of years after the testimony and just really wasn’t able to engage in the material. And when I looked at what I had written, I didn’t think it was something that would be...

In normal circumstances, the Oscars could be filed under “things I don’t watch.” However, something occurred during the recent awards ceremony that should be addressed—in particular, the following statement by Jonathan Glazer, director of the Holocaust film “The Zone of Interest,” which won the Academy Award for best international film : “We stand here as men who refute their Jewishness and the Holocaust being hijacked by an occupation which has led to conflict for so many innocent people. Whether the victims of October the 7th in Israel or the ongoing attack on Gaza—all the victims of this dehumanization.” This statement...

Joe Biden turning against Israel puts Scott “in mind of the time when England stood alone against a genocidal maniac.” That was the time when Hitler’s National Socialist regime was allied with Stalin’s Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. They signed their Pact on August 23, 1939, and Stalin began handing Jews directly to the Gestapo. In September, 1939, both powers invaded Poland, effectively starting World War II.In November, 1939, Stalin invaded Finland and in April of 1940 Hitler invaded Denmark and Norway. On May 10, 1940, Hitler invaded France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The genocidal maniac then turned his...
