The mayor of Ferguson, Missouri, says many of the people who smashed, looted, burned and destroyed in the aftermath of protests following a fatal police shooting of a teenager were out-of-towners. “Once the vigil dispersed, the people who showed up saw their numbers and got really brave, then people started driving in from other areas to steal stuff,” Mayor James Knowles told WND. “A lot of the people aren’t even from our town; but they came in and stole from our businesses and left our town in ruins, and made it look like there are racial tensions here that simply...

A day of protests and vigils Sunday over the death of Michael Brown, a black teenager who was killed (allegedly shot 8 times) following an altercation with a Ferguson police officer, turned violent overnight with reports of riots and looting... and the violence is continuing today. As the following images suggest, there was a lot more bubbling under the surface of middle America than concern about one young man's death as Ferguson's full SWAT team is in force. As one young protester screamed, "the revolution will not be televised."

The family of an unarmed black teenager who was shot dead by a police officer has hired the same civil rights lawyer who represents the family of Trayvon Martin. Michael Brown died after being shot multiple times by a police officer in Ferguson, a suburb of St Louis after an altercation involving the officer, Mr Brown and another man on Saturday. The killing has drawn criticism from some civil rights leaders, who have referred to the 2012 racially charged shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin by a Florida neighborhood watch organizer who was acquitted of murder charges. The Twitter user above is pretty upset about the looting going on in Ferguson, Mo. Not so much because looting black neighborhoods is wrong, but because it’s “counter-productive.” If looters have to do their thing, they should seek out white neighborhoods to pillage.

Small objects could be rounded worlds, based on likely sizes, experts say. Three relatively bright space rocks recently found in Pluto's neighborhood may be new members of the dwarf planet family, astronomers say. The objects were discovered in a little studied section of the Kuiper belt, a region of the solar system that starts beyond the orbit of Neptune and extends 5.1 billion miles (8.2 billion kilometers) from the sun. Astronomer Scott Sheppard, of the Carnegie Institute of Washington, and colleagues found the bodies using the 1.3-meter Warsaw University Telescope at Las Campanas in Chile. The region of the Kuiper...
