    A Bakersfield woman is suing the hospital treating her husband for severe COVID-19 in order to force doctors to give the patient ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug typically used to treat roundworm infections that physicians say is not an effective nor safe treatment for COVID. The woman's husband is intubated in the COVID unit at San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield, according to the complaint, which was obtained by Courthouse News and filed Sept. 17.
