Michigan Freepers.....I have been looking at some of the polling lately in Michigan, it shows suburban Rep. Mike Bishop, MI GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Schuette and MI GOP Senate candidate John James losing to their Democratic rivals. Michigan a battleground state has a lot of Independents. A lot of them voted for Trump-Pence. Are they the apathetic, apolitical types that were inspired by Trump's message but are apathetic or indifferent to regular, traditional politics as usual. Is Trump's coattails able to help the MI GOP, or is it suburban white women lashing out on the MI GOP and other Midwestern...

Democrat Bettie Cook Scott stood outside the polling stations on Tuesday and urged voters not to cast a ballot for her Asian opponent. Scott told the voters, “Don’t vote for ching-chang!” and don’t vote for “ching-chong.”

White Republican voters chose a black conservative over a white billionaire in Michigan.  How can that be?  Democrat Andre Carson of the Congressional Black Caucus said the Tea Party (conservatives and Republicans) is racist and wants to see blacks "hanging on a tree." Folks, as a black Tea Party activist since 2008, I can tell you this is the evil slander of salt-of-the-earth patriotic white voters I have been fighting.  Black conservative John James won Michigan's U.S. Senate Republican primary because he shares the values of most Americans.  James boldly expresses his desire to help Trump Make America Great Again.  Voters chose James because of...

John James winning the GOP primary for one of Michigan's Senate seats could (hopefully) end up being one of the more significant political events of the year. If you haven't seen him speak, I'd invite you to go ahead and pull up some clips of his recent appearances. He's brand new to the political stage, so of course we'll have to reserve final judgement, but from all appearances, he seems to be right on point in terms of the MAGA movement, conservatism and the best of the Republican Party. He "gets it", and he's got the biography (West Point, Iraq...

WASHINGTON -- A former Michigan state legislator is poised to become the first Muslim woman elected to Congress after emerging on top of a crowded Democratic primary Tuesday night to fill the seat vacated by Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.). Conyers, the sixth-longest serving member of Congress given his election in 1965, resigned in December due to sexual harassment and his use of taxpayer money to settle a harassment claim. His western Detroit district is all but a lock for Dems, as Republicans didn't put forth a candidate. Rashida Tlaib, a Palestinian-American and socialist Dem in the mold of Sen. Bernie...

John James has won the Republican nomination in Michigan's U.S. Senate race. With 29 percent of precincts reporting, initial results on Tuesday night showed James with 56.96 percent of the vote to opponent Sandy Pensler's 43.04 percent. The Associated Press called the race for James at 10:11 p.m. James will go on to face incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow in the general election. Stabenow, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary, was first elected to represent Michigan in the U.S. Senate since 2000. In a statement following the call, James said Stabenow "better get ready for the fight of her political...

President Donald Trump doubled down on his support for U.S. Army combat veteran John James in Michigan’s Republican primary for U.S. Senate just over one week after fully endorsing him. Trump called James “a potential Republican Star” and hinted he would be the best candidate to take on Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow in the Nov. 6 general election. The tweet comes after Trump gave James his full endorsement in late July, telling voters to get out and vote Aug. 7. Donald J. In two tweets, Trump called James "SPECTACULAR" and praised his credentials as a "West Point graduate, businessman and African American leader." "Rarely have I seen a candidate with such great potential," Trump tweeted. "John is strong on crime and borders, loves our Military, our Vets and our Second Amendment. He will be a star. For Rachel Conner, the 2018 election season has been a moment of revelation. A 27-year-old social worker, Ms. Conner voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 primaries, spurning the more liberal Bernie Sanders, whom many of her peers backed. But Ms. Conner changed course in this year’s campaign for governor, after concluding that Democrats could only win with more daring messages on issues like public health and immigration. And so on a recent Wednesday, she enlisted two other young women to volunteer for Abdul El-Sayed, a 33-year-old advocate of single-payer health care running an uphill race in Michigan to become...

Michigan congressional candidate Lena Epstein says a country club cancelled her planned event because of her support of President Donald Trump. Lena Epstein, who's running for the open seat in Michigan's 11th Congressional District, was supposed to hold a fundraising event at Franklin Hills Country Club in Franklin, Mich., Wednesday night. Epstein says she got a call last week from a board member telling her that they voted to cancel her event because of her political beliefs. On "Fox & Friends," Epstein revealed that one of her Democratic opponents in the race recently held an event at the country club.

Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), the longest serving member of the House of Representatives and the subject of a flurry of sexual-misconduct allegations in the last few weeks, said he was "retiring today" during a radio interview Tuesday. "I'm in the process of putting my retirement plans together and I'll have more of that very soon," Conyers said in an interview with the station, Praise 102.7. No sooner had he announced plans to vacate his seat, however, than an intra-family feud erupted into public view over who would take it over. The embattled Michigan Democrat said on Tuesday that he wanted...

Currently facing multiple allegations of sexual harassment, veteran Congressman Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., will not run for re-election in 2018, according to a family member who now plans to run for his seat. Interested in Sexual Harassment Ian Conyers, 29, the grandson of Rep. Conyers’ brother, confirmed the news by phone with ABC News early Tuesday. Ian Conyers, a Michigan state senator, said his uncle plans to make a formal announcement at 10 a.m. on the Mildred Gaddis radio show. The New York Times was first to report the story. “He is not resigning. He is going to retire,” Ian...

Businessman and combat veteran John James has the inside track to the Republican nomination for Senate in Michigan after Rep. Fred Upton dropped plans to run and opted for re-election to the House. James, a first-time candidate, outperformed Upton in public and private polling. That Republican primary voters prefer a novice outsider to a respected lawmaker with a lengthy record of accomplishment reveals the extent to which rejection of the political establishment is dominating GOP politics. “You want someone who is real. That’s how President Trump got elected,” said Rep. Paul Mitchell, R-Mich., who broke ranks and endorsed James over...

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Democratic Rep. Sander Levin of Michigan announced Saturday that he will not seek re-election to a 19th term in 2018. Levin, whose Democratic-leaning district is in suburban Detroit, said he will teach at the University of Michigan after 36 years in Washington. “I have tried to live up to the trust given to me by my constituents by following the values of my parents and family and by acting on what I believe after digging deeply into the facts and consulting broadly,” Levin, 86, said in a statement released after The Associated Press reported that he...
