A new WDIV/Det. N3ws poll shows a double-digit lead remains for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer in the upcoming midterm elections. Whitmer held a 13.7 percent lead over Republican candidate Bill Schuette in early September. Now she holds an 11.6 percent lead over Schuette, according to the latest poll results.

Mike Bishop, MI GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Schuette and MI GOP Senate candidate John James losing to their Democratic rivals. Michigan a battleground state has a lot of Independents. A lot of them voted for Trump-Pence. Are they the apathetic, apolitical types that were inspired by Trump's message but are apathetic or indifferent to regular, traditional politics as usual. John James has won the Republican nomination in Michigan's U.S. Senate race. With 29 percent of precincts reporting, initial results on Tuesday night showed James with 56.96 percent of the vote to opponent Sandy Pensler's 43.04 percent. Michigan congressional candidate Lena Epstein says a country club cancelled her planned event because of her support of President Donald Trump. Lena Epstein, who's running for the open seat in Michigan's 11th Congressional District, was supposed to hold a fundraising event at Franklin Hills Country Club in Franklin, Mich., Wednesday night.
