A new WDIV/Det. N3ws poll shows a double-digit lead remains for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer in the upcoming midterm elections. Whitmer held a 13.7 percent lead over Republican candidate Bill Schuette in early September. Now she holds an 11.6 percent lead over Schuette, according to the latest poll results.

Michigan doesn’t get it I guess...
I lived there, and have never been anyplace where my neighbors had their heads so firmly planted up their a** on economics.
Cycle seems to be this. Democrats make a train-wreck of the place. So they get fired and Republicans come in. Republicans start to right the ship and the economy starts growing. Voters kick back into their union shop mentality that the new wealth is not trickling down to them fast enough so they reinstall Democrats to “make things far”.
How it looks to me anyhow.
Check out the poll methodology. :-)
Nuff said.
far = fair
John James is a fine man. Disappointed he is not doing better. Then again, polls are not always right...
James just isn’t ready for prime time. Too young and inexperienced. Remember this is the big leagues. Think Dan Quayle/Sarah Palin.
MI voters are imbeciles if they re-elect Stabenow instead of James, who is so much more capable than the tired old Democrat hag. Of course, it may be that they don’t want to vote for a Black man, but it would be courteous to at least consider his excellent credentials.
There are vast swaths of the state of MI that has no OTA TV coverage, and one newspaper covers the entire state and bans any and all non-liberal opinion.
Any poll in the state is worthless garbage.
Not much chance for any R in MI ... but if this poll has any validity it indicates that he has moved much closer than in all previous polls. Good man.
Or, more likely, given the media situation in Michigan, James can't get his message out and the the poll reflects that fact.
Agree. I was polled and of course I was a Republican woman all the way down the line. James is an excellent choice. I would like to know where they polled? Ann Arbor? Flint? Detroit? The poll would have to have been random, but I cannot see it being accurate.
Jenny Grandstand forced me to move away from Michigan. I see Whitney as a more strident version of Granholm.
Shell be ready to shove Michigan into recession.
One word that spells disaster: Detroit.
Only if it comes out to vote.
With NO TV coverage in large areas of the state and no newspapers, where would JJ put his ads?
Bet that the friendly neighbourhood media went 24/7 negative on Republicans during the tainted water in Flint episode and also Detroit’s bankruptcy. I get Detroit TV stations up here and once in a while watch a bit of Carol Cain’s “Michigan Matters” and it seemed that way on that show during those times.
Poll methodology looks wack. Ignores pretty much everywhere but Detroit, its suburbs and academic centers like Ann Arbor and East Lansing.
