The U.S. government has expelled more than 147,000 migrants through the Southwest border since March under a health mandate to stem the spread of COVID-19. The bodies of a retired California couple who vanished in northern Mexico last month have been found at the bottom of a well there, authorities say. Ian Hirschsohn, 78, and Kathy Harvey, 73, both of San Diego, had been staying at his second home near El Socorrito in the western Mexican state of Baja California when they were last heard from Aug. 28, reported CBS-TV affiliate KFMB. The coronavirus pandemic has hit Mexico so hard that the governments of several states ran out of death certificates. Officials said Friday the federal forms started running out about 15 to 20 days ago in at least three states — Baja California, the State of Mexico and Mexico City. Authorities say a million new forms have been printed and are being distributed. The certificates are printed with special characteristics because falsification has been a problem in the past.

US Border Patrol agents in Laredo, Texas found a missing girl inside a tractor-trailer at the I-35 checkpoint crossing into Mexico. The girl was missing out of Odessa, Texas -- nearly a seven-hour drive north of Laredo where she was found. The girl was not publicly identified, but officials confirmed she is a juvenile. It's unclear how long she had been missing. The Webb County Sheriff's Office took the driver into custody. No further information was available.
