A newly-released video shows an Arizona police officer shooting and killing an unarmed man in January 2016 after the man, who was crying and begging for his life, made a mistake in complying with his orders. The body camera footage was released on Friday by the judge presiding over Officer Philip Brailsford's trial after Brailsford was acquitted on Thursday for the killing. The victim, 26-year-old pest control worker Daniel Shaver, was staying in the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Mesa, Arizona while on a business trip when police received a call that someone was pointing a gun out of...

The Shaver case is well beyond politics. There is nothing conservative, liberal or constitutional about an agent of the state killing an American without just cause. It is deeply wrong regardless of party or ideology. Bernie Sanders voters and the most ardent Trump supporters all should be united in outrage over the death of Daniel Shaver. Maricopa County District Attorney Bill Montgomery got it right by charging Brailsford with second degree murder. The jury got it very wrong. Shaver should be alive, and his death must be taken as a call to action. Police departments should establish that a suspect...

An Arizona mother spoke out against her son’s 4th-grade teacher having students recite an altered version of the Declaration of Independence in class, reported Arizona ABC-affiliate KNXV Wednesday. The mother, Elizabeth Vaillancourt, posted about the teacher’s actions on her Facebook account, including a photo of the altered Declaration of Independence. In one of the comments, she also provided the number of the superintendent Mr. McCord and encouraged people to contact him and complain. “Zev’s teacher has this hanging in the classroom can anyone...

An Arizona public school district says one of its teachers broke school policy when she reportedly had her class recite an altered version of the Declaration of Independence. A 4th-grade teacher at Salk Elementary School in Mesa altered a poster of the historical document by crossing out two instances of the word “men” in the second and third sentences and substituting it with “humans,” a local ABC affiliate reported. She then had students recite the altered version in class, the station said.

After four years, Phoenix has cut ties with a law firm that lobbied on the city’s behalf at the state Legislature. The politics involving former Gov. Jan Brewer played a role in the votes of at least two councilmembers. Many roll-call votes at Phoenix City Council meetings are straightforward, but when they involve contracts with consultants and lobbyists, the roll call typically slows as Councilmen Jim Waring and Sal DiCiccio voice their ongoing opposition to such deals. That’s what happened on Dec. 14.

But the billionaire businessman said the majority of the GOP hopefuls were "nice to him," saying he was prepared for all 14 Republican candidates to lob attacks at him. "Ted Cruz was very nice to me, and I was nice to him. Most of the people were nice to me last night." Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Wednesday continued to bash CNN's debate coverage and GOP rival former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush a day after the network's Tuesday night debate. The real estate mogul appeared at his first campaign rally in Mesa, Ariz., since the last GOP debate of...

Three-year-old Elijah Steffen died earlier this month from a rare bone disease. Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Elijah was scheduled to be a special guest at a Monster Truck Rally in Las Vegas. But he died before he could attend that event. On Friday, Elijah's family invited truck drivers to join the hour-long funeral procession through Mesa. The procession of vehicles included everything...

The Arizona Senate has approved a bill that would allow cities and towns to enter restricted federal land without permission in emergencies. ... Republican bill sponsor Rep. Kelly Townsend of Mesa says she was inspired by the battle between the city of Tombstone and the federal government over access to repair its water supply system in the Coronado National Forest. She says local authorities should have the right to go in where needed without being granted approval first in cases of emergency.

In between bowls of chicken poodle soup and deciding to provide air cover for al-Qaeda in Syria, our Dear Leader, Barack Hussein Obama, found time to meet with mayors from our crumbling major cities. From Justin Sink of The Hill: *** "President Obama told a collection of big-city mayors Tuesday at the White House that he would continue to use executive actions to combat gun violence plaguing major cities. In the meeting with Attorney General Eric Holder and the mayors of 18 cities from across the nation, Obama discussed commonly applicable strategies to reduce youth violence. 'He also vowed to...

"The media have gone out of their way to hype this “bout” as something that improved the prospects for the wounded Romney campaign but in terms of famous title fights, it was hardly the “Thrilla in Manila”. The reality is that if we were going to dub Thursday’s CNN Debate as a boxing title fight “The Contrivance in Mesa” would be more appropriate. As I explained in the above video, below is a clip from the debate in Mesa, Arizona where the Mormon audience were booing Santorum as soon as he MENTIONED Romneycare. I have news for Romney followers; they...

As I explained in my video - in Mesa Arizona the Mormon audience began by booing Santorum as soon as he MENTIONED Romneycare. I have news for these Romney followers - they are not going to be the studio audience in the general election when Obama thanks Romney for providing the - blueprint. Also, notice that in his retort, Romney himself calls his albatross "Romneycare", laugh out loud. As I also pointed out, take out all of the boo tracks, laugh tracks and applause tracks provided by this Romney fan club - and you have an ENTIRELY different debate. The...
