The Values plank of the Republican Platform 2008 contains a section on Preservation of Traditional Marriage. The gist is not new. The federal government has mangled marriage and family to the point of legally destroying the institutions and now they're disposing of the garbage they've created by leaving the problem to the states. There is an additional sentence tacked on at the end however that is extremely important to understand. As the family is our basic unit of society, we oppose initiatives to erode parental rights. Thought that was covered by the Constitution? It is usually only in the experience...

John McCain isn't dead in the water. But he sure is dying. He lost the debate and the polls are dismal. Gallup has him down 50-42. Rasmussen has Obama ahead 50-44. And both polls are only partially after the debate. Obama won the debate. When the polls come in fully after the debate, the picture won't get any prettier for those of us who favor McCain. His gambit of suspending his campaign and going to Washington has failed because he did not think it through adequately or correlate it with what was happening in Congress. The Republicans teed up a...

The question whether marriage as an institution should be abolished is now being debated all over Russia with a violence and depth of passion unknown since the turbulent early days of the Revolution. Last October a bill eliminating distinctions between registered and unregistered marriages and giving the unmarried consort the status and property rights of the legal wife was introduced in the Tzik, or Central Executive Committee. So much unforeseen opposition to the proposed law developed that the Tzik decided to postpone its final adoption until the next session, meanwhile initiating a broad popular discussion of the project. Since that...

It’s not the economy. Sure – if the economy was better, it would be good for Republicans. Everybody knows that, which is why the McCain campaign could never bet too many chips on the economy as part of a winning formula. Sure, the Democrats – including Barack Obama and Joe Biden – did cause the financial industry meltdown but what does it matter? There is a Republican in the White House and it’s easier to imagine that presidents rule with magic wands than to learn the basics of the American democratic system, let alone learn the modern history of financial...

It is terrifying to see our financial system crumbling because of corruption on Wall Street, aided and abetted by government policies of too much federal spending, debt, and intervention in the economy. But it is also troubling to see our economic system of free enterprise slipping away as the candidates of both major political parties propose more federal intervention, spending and debt as solutions to these problems. Our media have an obligation to inform the American people that we are moving into a full-blown socialist economy. ... cont.

We endorse John McCain for President of the United States.By the issues, here's why: Economy: McCain fought for the federal bailout package passed last week. He has promised to permanently restructure and downsize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and supported the failed 2005 legislation that may have averted the current crisis. He wants to end the use of taxpayer money for private interests, and has called for greater transparency and disclosure in mortgage lending and banking. He also has promised to do everything possible to keep credit-worthy homeowners in their homes, including (at the Tuesday debate) using $300 billion of...

John McCain will direct his Treasury Secretary to implement an American Homeownership Resurgence Plan (McCain Resurgence Plan) to keep families in their homes, avoid foreclosures, save failing neighborhoods, stabilize the housing market and attack the roots of our financial crisis. America’s families are bearing a heavy burden from falling housing prices, mortgage delinquencies, foreclosures, and a weak economy. It is important that those families who have worked hard enough to finance homeownership not have that dream crushed under the weight of the wrong mortgage. The existing debts are too large compared to the value of housing. For those that cannot...

The 'quick and easy' road most taken For many Americans, the sense of deja vu must have been palpable these past few weeks. There was President Bush and a cadre of bipartisan congressional leaders presenting the nation with a sweeping ultimatum - without debate - and demanding acquiescence as the only possible solution to a crisis they have watched ferment for years. Sounds like the summer of 2007 all over again. Replace "bailout for Wall Street" with "amnesty for illegal immigrants," and here we go again. As the pervasive rot of corruption that has spread throughout the nation's financial institutions...

You know who you are. You're the one posting stupid comments about what a loser Johnny is. You're the one getting on the political chat shows and telling everyone that you think Obama is super great and that he's going to win! Yeay! And your supposed to be a conservative. Why don't you shut up! I'm talking to all the whiners who piled on and joined the Chris Matthews bandwagon and declared Johnny an old man and a big dull loser. He did fine last night. He was the boss on foreign policy. He's never been a dazzling public speaker...

At this point, with the financial crisis continuing to grow, isn't it apparent that...

After seeing John McCain not "hit it out of the park" during the second debate between McCain and Barack Obama, how is long-term socialism not really coming to the U.S. soon? A possible Barack Obama Presidency along with a probable "dominant leftist majority" of both Democrats and Republicans in Congress in both the House and Senate will truly destroy the entire U.S. as a country! The eventual full implementation of the Fairness Doctrine along with the eventual full implementation of amnesty for illegal immigrants (Both McCain and Obama are really for amnesty for illegal immigrants! Arrgh!), which will also include...

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain is proposing a $300 billion program for the federal government to buy up bad home mortgages and allow homeowners to keep their houses.

One illegal alien was arrested this year in Tucson after allegedly using a stolen social security number to buy two homes and rack up over $780,000 in bad debt. Some five million fraudulent home mortgages are in the hands of illegal aliens, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It's not known how many of those have contributed to the subprime housing mortgage meltdown, but it has affected every state, including Arizona. The problem began years ago when banks were forced to give mortgages without confirming social security numbers or borrower identification. As a result, illegal immigrants...

To: United States Congress, President Bush To President George W. Bush, Senators, and Congressman: We the people and taxpayers of the United States of America demand that you immediately rescind the Emergency Economic Stability Act (better known as 'The Bailout') which was passed and signed into law on October 3, 2008, against the expressed will of the people. This Bailout must be overturned immediately to prevent permanent damage to the market economy of the United States - a market economy that has led the world for many decades; a market economy based on freedom to succeed and freedom to fail...

The Dem governor of TN was just interviewed in advance of tonight's second presidential debate. Folks, the word they will hammer home tonight is "erratic," as in "John McCain's erratic behavior makes him dangerous to the country." Perhaps we'll hear, "Who knows what could have happened to his mind as a POW?" Also heard: McCain will remain a gentleman and respond mildly to any attacks. The McCain team apparently still believes that moderation will gather the most "independents," whom Rush Limbaugh correctly describes as spineless wastes of electoral time. Also comes news that Obama will rip into McCain, blaming him...

John McCain has earned a part of his maverick reputation by supporting strong and purposeful environmental policy that protects our common resources and public land. His history of advancing change within his own party makes him the best presidential choice for protecting the Earth. As an environmental entrepreneur and co-chairman of McCain's Environmental Coalition in Washington, I can attest that his leadership is inspiring a new generation of Republicans to revisit our philosophical roots as conservationist in the tradition of Teddy Roosevelt.

PARIS (AFP) — Wall Street's sickness and its contagiousness for the world economy are bad news for the already faltering effort to craft a new pact to tackle climate change. Tighter budgets, shrinking corporate profits and worries about jobs could crimp manoeuvering room at upcoming UN talks on toughening curbs on greenhouse-gas emissions, sources say. But -- so far, at least -- the crisis does not appear to be having an impact on investment in clean technology, say these sources. Indeed, some are confident that spending on wind, solar and other renewables may even rise.
