The Values plank of the Republican Platform 2008 contains a section on Preservation of Traditional Marriage. The gist is not new. The federal government has mangled marriage and family to the point of legally destroying the institutions and now they're disposing of the garbage they've created by leaving the problem to the states. There is an additional sentence tacked on at the end however that is extremely important to understand.
As the family is our basic unit of society, we oppose initiatives to erode parental rights.Thought that was covered by the Constitution? It is usually only in the experience of divorce with children that people discover that the most basic rules of civilization no longer apply. Courts no longer list parental rights among our country's fundamental rights. They are issues in partisan politics; like should we allow oil drilling on certain federal lands or increase taxes on the rich?
Married couples are in the same boat. ... cont.

I’m sorry, but a post about saving traditional marriage posted by RogerFGAY?
Forgive me, but I see humor in that.
It’s hard to take serious this “Dire” warning with the economy crumbling down around us.
It would be worse if it was his first name, can you imagine extending your handshake with Hi, I’m Gay.
“Its hard to take serious this Dire warning with the economy crumbling down around us.”
I find almost anything from the RNC hard to take right now. What could a bunch of gutless, neutered, political animals have to say that could be of value?

So you’re opposed to saving traditional marriage?
“So youre opposed to saving traditional marriage?”
Relax buddy. If you get all emotional on me, that just adds to the humor.
“....It would be worse if it was his first name, can you imagine extending your handshake with Hi, Im Gay....”
Reminds me of a true story.
I worked in health care for several years. A friend who is actually named Gay, was introduced to a new nurse in the ICU. She smiled and said, “Hi, I’m Gay.”
The new nurse beamed and said, “Really! me too!”
This really happened folks.
Truth is stranger than fiction, and a whole lot funnier..ROFL
I think there must be something behind your comment. People normally only take a shot at authors when they disagree with what they’ve written. You’re queer, aren’t you.
“Youre queer, arent you.”
Don’t get your panties in a twist. Gee, an author who can’t end a question with the proper punctuation. You really are all upset. Or maybe a writer who still needs to hone his skills.
This is a conservative site. Of course I support traditional marriage. If I were gay, my wife and 3 kids would be quite surprised.
Look, our financial system is in meltdown. And today of all days, an author with the surname “Gay” posts an article defending traditional marriage. If you can’t see humor in that, then you take yourself too seriously.
I believe it was George Carlin that had a response to this:
"Why don't you bend over and we'll both find out..."
We have a lot of fake conservatives creeping around here, doing what they can to disrupt and channel people in the wrong direction. I wrote an article on that recently. You must admit that your behavior is suspect. There’s a serious article on saving traditional marriage posted, and you immediately try to make fun of the author.
“You must admit that your behavior is suspect. “
I’ll admit no such thing.
I’ll observe that my sense of humor has remained intact in trying times. I’ll also observe you seem to have an over inflated ego and you seem to lack a sense of humor.
Good day.
You can admit it if you’re a homosexual. It’s not illegal. As you know, in some states homosexuals can now marry one another. So, you can come out and support your position. Personally, I find it offensive, so I’d rather not be the one you discuss it with. But obviously, you’re quite confortable with it and this is a debate forum, and as far as I know, there’s no restriction on the position you argue. So why not let people know how you really feel?
Last time I looked traditional marriage was still going strong.
You really are a jerk, aren’t you?
