Thanks to @GlennBeck for having me on your show this morning! We had a good discussion on what's at stake in this critical race.

Election day highlights from around the country: Ohio nixes marijuana, San Francisco boots their Sanctuary City Sheriff and Kentucky elects a Republican governor whose black, female lieutenant governor running mate has a back story that sounds like a female version of Ben Carson’s.Oh, and did I mention that both Governor-elect Matt Belvin and his Lt. Governor, Jenean Hampton, are Tea Party activists who have never held public office before? That sounds like bad news for the DNC and the RNC. Connect the dots, Reince. And as a follow-up on this week’s informal topic, free speech, there’s this killer article from...

Democrats stunned by Matt Bevin's victory in the race for Kentucky governor blamed "Trump-mania" for the Tea Party candidate's unlikely 53%-44% win over Democrat Jack Conway. "Attorney General Jack Conway ran a strong campaign focused on the issues that matter to Kentuckians: good schools, good-paying jobs and economic opportunity," said Elisabeth Pearson, executive director of the Democratic Governors Association, in an official statement on the results. Pearson added: "Unfortunately, he ran into the unexpected headwinds of Trump-mania, losing to an outsider candidate in the year of the outsider. While Jack Conway came up just short tonight, his presence in this...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Matt Bevin, a Republican political novice, wealthy Louisville businessman and Tea Party favorite, was elected Kentucky’s next governor on Tuesday, a victory that could herald a new era in a state where Democrats have held the governor’s mansion for all but four of the last 44 years. The Associated Press declared Mr. Bevin the winner shortly after 8 p.m. In beating his Democratic opponent, Attorney General Jack Conway, Mr. Bevin surprised many in his own party, who believed that the climate in Kentucky was ripe for a Republican but feared that Mr. Bevin, a charismatic conservative with...

LOUISVILLE (AP) - Here is a look at Kentucky's top races in Tuesday's general election, from the contest for governor at the top of the ticket to down-ballot races for statewide offices: GOVERNOR Democrat Jack Conway and Republican Matt Bevin square off in the race to become Kentucky's next governor in a pivotal off-year election. The winner succeeds Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear, who could not seek re-election because of term limits. The campaign turned into a referendum on President Barack Obama's signature health care law. Outgoing Gov. Steve Beshear used an executive order to expand the state's Medicaid program to...

Good Morning, Fellow FReepers: Today is Election Day in Kentucky - polls are open until 6 PM local time (Eastern for part of the state, Central for the other). This is projected to be a very low turnout election, therefore, boosting the conservative turnout just slightly can help. It's very difficult to get through to national talk shows, but if someone today could happen to get through to shows like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Mike Gallagher, etc. and include in your call with a message similar to the below: "...before I go, I wanted to remind everyone it...

FLORENCE — After a bruising primary against U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell last year, few would have predicted Bevin, in his second political campaign ever, would be where he is today: potentially becoming the second Republican elected governor since former Gov. Louie Nunn won the office in 1967. Bevin looked to the state’s three northernmost counties to rouse supporters on Saturday, spurring on about 50 volunteers at his Boone County headquarters before they made the door-to-door rounds or continued phone-banking. He made earlier stops in Kenton and Campbell counties ahead of Tuesday’s election. Bevin thumped his three GOP rivals — Agriculture...

Alexandria, VA - A new survey conducted by Vox Populi Polling amongst likely Kentucky voters found that the three-way race for Kentucky Governor remains tight and will likely come down to voter turnout. Top Numbers: Matt Bevin: 44% Jack Conway: 44% Drew Curtis: 6% (moe: +/- 3.9%) While the survey shows this is an exceptionally close race, Republican candidate Matt Bevin narrowly edges Democrat candidate Jack Conway 46-43 percent among self-reported Kentucky voters who say they will definitely head to the polls on Tuesday. Both candidates have an equal 79 percent share of their respective parties, but Bevin has a...

LEXINGTON — Sitting mere feet from one another in their final gubernatorial debate televised on KET Monday evening, tensions between Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway and Republican Matt Bevin spilled into public view as they tussled on issues like public pensions, health care and the state’s economy. Conway often laughed aloud during Bevin’s responses and interjections, drawing animated reactions from the GOP candidate as the Democrat sat, at times, with a forced grin on his face. Both argued simultaneously, drawing moderator Bill Goodman to intervene to get the candidates on track and speak one at a time. Bevin, who released...

The return of the Republican Governors Association to Kentucky television airwaves brings an unpopular national figure back to the state’s political consciousness: President Barack Obama. The RGA and Republican Attorneys General Association have dumped millions in the state to link Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jack Conway and attorney general candidate Andy Beshear to the president, hoping Obama’s poor approval numbers in Kentucky rub off on his fellow Democrats in their respective campaigns for constitutional office. Speaking to Pure Politics after addressing an animated crowd at the AFL-CIO’s 31st biennial convention at Louisville’s Crowne Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, Conway dismissed the $1.6...

Attorney General Jack Conway has hammered Republican gubernatorial opponent Matt Bevin in recent months over statements on education, taxes and other issues, but as the campaign nears the final days the Democratic candidate has turned positive on-air. Conway still has outside super PAC support in the form of Kentucky Family Values who continue to hammer Bevin in their ads. ... Meanwhile, the Republican Governor’s Association has gone back on-the-air with a “seven figure ad buy” in support of Bevin through the end of the election. The group had pulled their ads in late September — leaving Bevin essentially alone and...

Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway says he hopes the next two gubernatorial debates feature questions on the Affordable Care Act, but he will not accept his opponent’s invitation for a forum focused solely on the topic. Republican Matt Bevin challenged Conway to debate the federal health law on Tuesday, saying “Kentuckians deserve to know how each of us would handle the very real and costly flaws of Obamacare.” Bevin’s invitation came days after officials with Kentucky Health Cooperative, a co-op created under the Affordable Care Act that operated in all 120 counties, announced the non-profit insurer would not offer health...

Democrat Jack Conway holds a very slim lead over Republican Matt Bevin as Kentucky’s gubernatorial campaign enters its final three weeks. Statewide, 43% of likely voters currently support Conway, while 41% back Bevin, 6% are for independent Drew Curtis and 10% are undecided. Conway has a slightly better positive name recognition ratio. Statewide, 42% have a favorable opinion of him and 30% having an unfavorable view. Bevin’s ratio is a bit lower at 39% favorable and 34% unfavorable. Bevin, however, is getting a stronger party cross-over vote, which is vital for a GOP candidate to win statewide in Kentucky. Bevin...

Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Bevin issued the following statement regarding the closure of Kentucky Health Cooperative, Inc. "This financial debacle is a direct result of Obamacare, which Governor Beshear was too quick to embrace. Even though it is a disaster for Kentucky taxpayers, Jack Conway still says he would have been proud to vote for Obamacare," said Bevin. "It is the job of the attorney general to watch out for Kentucky consumers. Where has Jack Conway been in investigating this catastrophic co-op? Once again, Jack is playing political games instead of doing his job. The tragic result is that 51,000...
