I received an E-Mail from the NRA, (which I'm a member), recommending a manufacturer, CDNN Sports, as a good place for purchasing AR magazines.I usually buy AR magazines from Magpul, but these other mags are less expensive.
  • Rubio's Age Is Problematic, But Hillary Being Post-Menopausal Makes Her 'Perfect'?

Time.com's Zeke Miller tweeted yesterday that a "reporter" asked recently declared presidential candidate Marco Rubio of Florida the following question: "Is 43 old enough to be president?" Meanwhile, two weeks ago, a column at Time.com claimed that Hillary Clinton is "biologically primed to be a leader." Seriously. Since he either can't or won't tell us who asked the question, we're unable to determine if the "reporter" to whom Miller referred was asking the question because he or she doesn't know the Constitution or was trying to bait Rubio into giving an answer implicitly or explicitly criticizing other candidates. It would...

When you look at the endless problems we face in society today, it’s easy to think, “But what I can do? I’m just one person.”The fact is that God only has people to use, and He uses one person at a time. It’s amazing to see what can happen when one person decides to take a stand.Lisa L. is the homeschooling mother of three children. She’s 35-years-old and, along with her husband Mike, graduated from our ministry training school when it was based in Pensacola, Florida.Initially, the transition from ministry school to motherhood was challenging, as Lisa went from wanting...

After years of being a sucker and buying magazines off of the tables at gun shows, I'm done. I'm looking at my mags and I have about a dozen gun show mags and only maybe two or three are reliable and quiet. Most jam or don't activate the slide stop when empty or just plain rattle when loaded. I've spent an average of $15 each. For the same $ I could have bought 6 factory mags and have 6 good mags instead of 2 or 3. As an experiment I loaded a factory 7rd Ruger .45 mag with 7 rds...
  • The science of why magazines are always out of date in GPs waiting rooms (This is Hugh!)

It is a curious phenomenon that magazines in doctor’s waiting rooms are always out of date. Now a study has discovered the reason. The more recent the publication, the more likely it is to be filched by light-fingered patients. Researchers at the University of Auckland found that GP waiting rooms generally contain older magazines no matter how hard staff try to keep supplies up to date. And patients hoping to find something light-hearted to take their mind off a tooth or tummy ache are also likely to be disappointed. For the magazines that get left behind are not only out...

Wednesday morning, Cosmopolitan magazine hailed the fact that 100 women are going to serve in Congress for the first time ever. The only problem? The magazine rooted against a fifth of them – or at least ignored them. The fashion magazine for some reason decided to jump into politics this year and endorse candidates for the 2014 midterm elections. Surprise, surprise, all of the politicians they endorsed were pro-abortion Democrats. Here were just a few: Amanda Renteria, Jeanne Shaheen, Alison Lundergan Grimes, Mary Burke, Carol Shea-Porter, Michelle Nunn, Staci Appel, and everyone’s favorite candidate, Wendy Davis. In the House races, specifically, conservative, pro-life...

Some years ago now, when the conservative media group Newsmax put in a bid to buy the limping, failing Newsweek, I wrote a post arguing that trying to reinvent one of the newsweeklies as a (moderately) right-of-center publication was as good a bet as any. Here was the nub of my argument: If [Jon Meacham, the previous editor] had wanted to play to what seems like Newsweek’s business strength — its large audience outside the Acela corridor — he would have tried to tilt the magazine toward the center-right rather than the center-left, in the hopes of becoming the go-to...

After having formally launched JPFO’s “High Capacity Freedom” campaign (aka “High Cap Freedom”), JPFO’s Rabbi Dovid Bendory listed five reasons why you would WANT (not “need”) a high capacity ammunition magazine. We purposely held back at that time the crucial “Sixth Reason”. It has “stand alone” significance, and is probably the most important reason for an armed citizenry to “keep and bear” significant weaponry and ammunition capacity. It has been called the “elephant in the room” of American gun rights. Few in the Second Amendment movement are comfortable contemplating this critical issue. The matter is simple: “We the People”, as...

rom the living room of Barry Diller’s Manhattan apartment in the Carlyle Hotel, it is possible, on a clear day, to see the Midtown skyline, where the Condé Nast building rises like a ziggurat from the Gilded Age of magazine journalism. The view was an appropriate one for a man who in the autumn of 2010 was about to pour millions of dollars into the dead tree business. Diller runs IAC, a portfolio of Internet companies that includes Match.com, OkCupid and Vimeo. His tolerance for risk is such that his friend David Geffen once described the fireplug of a billionaire...

TRENTON New Jersey Democrats on Monday proposed legislation that would limit the ammunition capacity of gun magazines, 14 months after a massacre at a Connecticut elementary school revived a national debate about the role of guns in America. The bill, announced by the Legislature's Democratic leadership at a Statehouse news conference with parents of children slain at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012, would reduce magazine capacity to 10 rounds, from 15. It also would ban semiautomatic rifles with fixed-magazine capacities that exceed 10 rounds. "When you meet families that lost their loved ones, it's pretty hard to explain...

The Stench of Honolulu: A Tropical Adventure by Jack Handey Deep Thoughs by Sebastien Theroux Humorist Jack Handey’s debut novel tells the delightfully absurd tale of two men’s quest to find the Holy Grail of fictional wealth: a Golden Monkey supposedly worth…a lot. Our not-so-humble narrator (a sociopathic ignoramus) and his friend Don navigate a world of pirates, blow darts, banana peels and treasure maps of dubious origin.

It hasn't been a particularly great year for magazine circulation, but one category is shining as a beacon of hope for the American publishing industry: guns. American Rifleman and America’s 1st Freedom, both of which are benefits of NRA membership, saw their circulations increase 14 percent to 1.9 million and 8 percent to 545,019, respectively, in the first half of the year versus the year-ago period. Handguns and Guns & Ammo, published by InterMedia Outdoors, saw their circ jump 16 percent to 137,648 and 7 percent to 416,224, respectively.

SANTA FE (KRQE) - Santa Fe will not limit how big gun magazines can be.      The decision comes after a plan to ban on high capacity automatic gun ammunition magazines was shot down at a packed city hall meeting Wednesday night. "The state constitution is very clear that in no way can it be regulated by anybody,” Thomas Iddings said. “But it's not the magazines that are the problem. It's criminals.""I don't think it's a constitutional issue,” Paul Schmitt said. “I think it's an inconvenience that people have to change their magazines. We're not limiting weaponry."      If it...

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A ban on the possession of large-capacity ammunition clips in the city of Los Angeles was one of two gun control measures the City Council approved Friday. The proposed ordinance – which was passed in an unanimous 11-0 vote – would declare high-capacity ammo clips a public nuisance and allow Los Angeles police to confiscate those firearms.

Looking at the pics coming in from the Boston bomber manhunt I see all these LEOs bristling with high-capacity-mag, “assault weapon” looking rifles (wonder how many are full-auto?), bad-ass shotguns, scary black pistols. For two guys … well, one now. (None now. Good show LEOs.) Thing is, I don’t begrudge the city of Boston a single round. The LEOs, God bless ‘em, aren’t taking any chances. But then why should you? Why should you be held to 7 rounds? Or 10. Or any arbitrary number. Who needs 30-round mags? “…legions of heavily armed police” felt like they needed them …...

What appears to be the gun-control crowd's most winnable argument is as irrational as the rest. The Hartford Courant reports that on April 1, Connecticut legislators reached bipartisan agreement on what they say could be the “nation’s strongest gun-control bill,” and that easy passage is expected. One of the bills provisions: scary-looking semi-automatic rifles (“assault weapons”) will now need only one frightening feature (such as a pistol grip or flash suppressor) instead of the current two to make the banned list. A second: future sales of “high-capacity magazines” of over 10 rounds will be banned. This is the one element...
  • Biden: Gun-Ban Legislation "Just the Beginning" -- Pelosi: "Not the End of the Day for this Issue"

This week, Vice-President Joe Biden, and House Minority Leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), showed us--once again--how thorough their contempt is for our Constitutionally guaranteed Second Amendment rights. According to a Washington Times article, on a Wednesday conference call organized by "Mayors Against Illegal Guns," Biden referred to current anti-gun legislation and told his anti-gun supporters, "Let me say this as clearly as I can: this is just the beginning." As the article notes, recent surveys show increasing opposition to stricter gun control measures. But this fact matters not to Biden; nor to Pelosi, who also voiced a determination to continue...
