What appears to be the gun-control crowd's most winnable argument is as irrational as the rest.
The Hartford Courant reports that on April 1, Connecticut legislators reached bipartisan agreement on what they say could be the nations strongest gun-control bill, and that easy passage is expected.
One of the bills provisions: scary-looking semi-automatic rifles (assault weapons) will now need only one frightening feature (such as a pistol grip or flash suppressor) instead of the current two to make the banned list. A second: future sales of high-capacity magazines of over 10 rounds will be banned. This is the one element of the pending legislation that has divided its supporters. The bill does not impose an outright ban on the newly illicit magazines, allowing current owners to keep them:
if they make an official declaration by January 1 of how many they own and submit to restrictions on their use. The magazines could only be loaded with 10 or fewer rounds, except in their owners homes or at a shooting range, where they can be fully loaded.
Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy supported those including many Sandy Hook parents who had called for an outright ban:
Simply banning [the magazines'] sale moving forward would not be an effective solution.
One Sandy Hook parent whose son was murdered said:
I think its useless to register the magazines. How are you going to register them? I think its stupid. Theres no way to register them, theres no serial numbers.
Its just another law or regulation thats not going to be enforceable....

RUSH will concede the gun control argument soon.
Cease all gun control now.
Now.
No more gun lists. No more laws. Nothing.
conceding anything is a losing proposition by definition
High capacity magazine controversy?
A bigger problem is the Empty Magazine.
Well, Rush is correct that we screw ourselves when we let the libs redefine words.
These are not “assault weapons”
It's absolutely propaganda. The argument about magazine capacity is a subterfuge. It has no relation to crime nor the severity of crimes. It's not worth debating.
Shall not be infringed!
they are my criminal equalizing weapon.
they are my freedom weapon. they fire freedom bullets.
they are my self defense tools.
they are my 2nd Amendment tools.
they are my force multiplying tools.
There is no reason why citizens should not have access to the same weapons wielded by law enforcement.
Let’s start calling them “Assault Politicians” as they are assaulting our rights.
And the hi-cap magazine ban argument is stupid.
They say “Hunters don’t need 20 bullet magazines”
Obviously, none of these “Assault Politicians” has ever been charged by several Wild Boar or circled by a pack of Wolves while out in the woods by themselves.
A 7 or 10 round mag won’t save you in most situations like that. But that’s using logic, reason and real-world situations, something that “Assault Politicians” don’t understand.
It’s like mandating that all cars built after this year are to be limited to 3 gallon gas tanks to avoid prolonged police chases that often end with the car being chased hitting innocents, and existing vehicles with “Hi-capacity gas tanks” can only add enough fuel to meet the 3-Gallon limit.
Well.... don't put it beyond the 'government' to limit the amount of gas you can buy, if you don't have a hybrid or all electric vehicle.
Letting the fascist grabbers get your 100W incandescent light bulbs was a bad sign.
THE TRUTH....
The only impact a large capacity magazine has is when none of the victims are armed.
Since they ostensibly serve at our pleasure, are they even entitled to the same as we are? (let alone more)
In the unlikely event that they are sincere, the abject stupidity of this is shocking, even by liberal standards. Do they think a psychotic criminal on a shooting rampage is going to count our ten rounds for each 30-round magazine? What they really intend is to register them so that after the next shooting anywhere, they will know where to go for the next "necessary, common-sense" step in disarming American citizens. No, thank you.
