Torrance police on Friday identified the woman they believe unleashed racist tirades against three people at a local park, saying she is also suspected of physically assaulting two people months earlier. The woman was captured on camera throwing insults and racist remarks in two separate incidents at Charles H. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced new measures Sunday to help fight the spread of the coronavirus in L.A., as well as speed up testing for high-risk residents. While many Californians have been adhering to stay at home orders and social distancing guidelines, like keeping six feet distance from other people, far too many are not, the mayor said. "This weekend we saw too many images of too many people crowding beaches or canyons beyond their capacity. Too many people, too close together, too often," Garcetti said. "The longer we do that, the more people will get sick, and the...

Here's an impressive quiet accomplishment from the Trump administration, now noted by Judicial Watch: Under a long-term deal sealed by the Obama administration, a Chinese Communist company was set to control the second-busiest container port in the United States. In an unreported Trump administration victory, the Communists are out after a drawn-out national security review forced a unit of China-based COSCO Shipping Holdings Co. (Orient Overseas Container Line—OOCL) to sell the cherished container terminal business, which handles among the largest freight of imports into the U.S. It all started with a 40-year container terminal lease between the Port of Long...

Trailed by protesters shouting “shame” and denouncing “vigilantism,” Long Beach citizen patrols marched before dawn Friday through the Belmont Shore neighborhood, protesting what participants called a “criminal element” in the oceanfront community’s growing homeless encampments. While Long Beach police were supportive, city officials had discouraged the event. “The city has an extensive response to address homelessness,” said Teresa Chandler, Long Beach Community Services Bureau manager. “We don’t recommend [patrols] as the best method of education.” National homeless advocates warned that Long Beach social media posts to “take back the neighborhood” and make “a show of force” could trigger harassment and...
