SEIU 1199: Um, we lied to our members about Obamacare woes By Michelle Malkin • December 2, 2010 09:29 AM The backpedaling Purple Army bosses are running scared. As you know from my column yesterday, the mammoth SEIU 1199 chapter dropped kiddie coverage and specifically blamed the Obamacare slacker mandate for raising costs. Reminder from the WSJ report on the union’s woes: More than 30,000 low-wage families will be affected, according to The Wall Street Journal. Who’s to blame? SEIU 1199 benefits manager Mitra Behroozi singled out oppressive new state and federal regulations, including the much-ballyhooed Obamacare rule forcing insurers...

Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner was convicted today in a federal court in Boston on charges that he pocketed a $1,000 bribe in his district office in 2007 and later lied about it to federal agents who were interviewing him. A US District Court jury delivered its verdict this afternoon, just a few hours into its first full day of deliberations, finding Turner guilty of attempted extortion and providing false statements to FBI agents.

The woman who gained sympathy around the world after a stranger threw acid in her face has made a shocking confession: she made the whole thing up. Bethany Storro, 28, confessed to police yesterday, saying the severe burns she suffered in the horrific 'attack' were actually 'self-inflicted'. Police said they did not know the motive behind her bizarre plan. Her confession - which is set to cause outrage around the world - came after police, suspicious at the holes in her story, turned up the pressure by searching her house.

Obama promised….repeatedly….that we would bring our troops home from Iraq within 16 months. So, the President took office in January, 2009 after the election. He promised to have the troops out with 16 months of being elected, but let’s calculate that time from when he entered office. January, 2009…January, 2010….that’s 12 months. Add six months to that and that brings us to June, 2010 (We’re adding slow because we know the administration doesn’t like to read). Are we anywhere near being out of Iraq? Are all of those brigades home, like he promised? No…..he lied. Here’s an interview with President...

Did attorney general and senate hopeful Richard Blumenthal ever serve in Vietnam? Well, no. But according to The New York Times, Blumenthal is suggesting the opposite. Blumenthal also claims he served as the Captain of the Harvard swim team, despite records at the college showing that he was never on the team. “We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Blumenthal said to a group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. But Blumehthal according to the Times, obtained five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took steps to avoid going to war. “In 1970,...

Can Democrats possibly screw up the 2010 election any more? Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who replaced Chris Dodd as the Democrat candidate for Senator from Connecticut, today was outed as a potential liar, on of all things, his military record in Vietnam. From the New York Times, no less:
-
Not just any Democratic Senate candidate, either. It’s Richard Blumenthal, current attorney general of Connecticut, whom Chris Dodd made way for by retiring earlier this year. He’s been leading all Republican challengers by upwards of 20 points in the polls and was considered a mortal lock to win the seat in November. Until now. Follow the link for the full background of his military history. The five deferments aren’t the problem. This is the problem: “We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008....

If you've ever wondered why politicians often tell gargantuous lies even though the truth is so easily revealed, you're really going to be scratching your head on this one. At a ceremony honoring veterans and senior citizens who sent presents to soldiers overseas, Connecticut Attorney General and Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal said, "We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam." He may be right about learning something but Mr. Blumenthal never served in Vietnam.

Current Attorney General of Connecticut, and democratic contender for the Senate seat currently held by Chris Dodd, Richard Blumenthal, has apparently lied about serving in Vietnam: "“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. “And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it — Afghanistan or Iraq — we owe our military men and women unconditional support.” ...There was one problem: Mr. Blumenthal, a Democrat now running for the United States Senate, never served in Vietnam. He obtained...

The NY Times has the story; the longtime crusading state Attorney General (he was Eliot Spitzer before Eliot Spitzer was), Richard Blumenthal has sometimes just implied it, but on other occasions (including one the NYT has on video) he’s said outright that he served in the Marines in Vietnam, when in fact he enlisted in a stateside Marine Reserve unit only near the end of the war after obtaining five draft deferments to pursue his legal education. The deferments are nothing to be proud of, but they’re a common enough story among male political leaders of that generation in both...

Ugh. Sometimes you have to absolutely hate the mainstream media. If you’re a New Jersey resident, you might have been subjected to a recent report from the Associated Press that stated Governor Chris Christie’s staff was making a ton more money than former Governor Money Bags – I mean Jon Corzine’s – staff was making. Well, once again we have a situation where the Associated Press did almost no fact checking once the information was put in front of their biased little faces. Either that or they blatantly wanted to produce a story that was heavily negative against Governor Christie....

Today is the day that I have been invited to go on MSNBC for the very first time. At no point during the ACORN story was I put on the hot seat to defend the work of James O’Keefe. My thesis from day one has been that the mainstream media is biased in favor of the left and MSNBC is its most obvious case study. So when MSNBC led the charge on Tuesday against James O’Keefe when he and three others were arrested in New Orleans at Senator Landrieu’s office, it came as no surprise that the cable network seized...

CNN’s Jack Cafferty carved out at a unique spot for himself during the Bush administration –while the rest of his network peers stayed away from the opinion media fray, Cafferty was consistently one of Bush’s fiercest critics, and often got labeled “liberal” by Cafferty’s critics. But any expectations that the Obama administration would reveal a kinder and gentler Cafferty have been wrong, evidenced by the following clip: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/jack-cafferty-on-obama-he-lied/ Much has already been made of Obama’s promise of transparency in negotiating health care reform — its become a robust topic of debate between left and right. Cafferty doesn’t demure when he...

January 2nd, 2010 Maggie M. Thornton President Obama’s nominee to head the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) lied to Congress. His confirmation to the office has been moved-up to tomorrow (just kidding – but probably). Not only did he lie, but some in Congress knew he lied before advancing his nomination in November 2009. See video below.

The election results certified by the St. Lawrence County Board of Elections for New York’s 23rd Congressional District contain some numbers that are mathematically impossible. These numbers were requested in person and transmitted by e-mail just hours before certification on Tuesday, November 24th, 2009. For six election districts in St. Lawrence County (the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 7th districts in Canton, the 14th district in Massena, and the 2nd district in Oswegatchie) negative numbers appear in the column for “blank” ballots, known in other states as “undervotes.” Blank vote counts are ballots in which the voter did not choose any...

President Obama's health care speech in September was the announcement, explanation, and promotion of his health care bill, his health care plan, his proposal. There's only one problem. President Obama lied. He has no plan.

Well well well... Here's the smoking gun PROVING that Joe Wilson was right and that Obama LIED. And best of all, it comes from that esteemed organization that Leftists and Marxists love to hold up as the epitome of impartiality, the Congressional Research Service. Enough lead in, here's the smoking gun. Please see page 4 of the document (PDF page 7), the section entitled "Exchange". Specifically, these words: H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens—whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently—participating in the Exchange. Given this, Mr. President, Madame Speaker, I hereby...

LUMBERTON - As darkness fell on the final evening of the Burlington County Farm Fair on Saturday, one distinct parade made its way through the crowds of festival-goers. As part of his recent introduction of his running mate for the November election, Gov. Jon S. Corzine and his caravan made a stop at the Farm Fair to shake hands and talk to residents. The visit came as a late surprise to Farm Fair Manager Bill Spicer. "First he was coming and then he wasn't and then he was," said Spicer with a laugh. "But now he's here and I think...

As Obama's poll numbers continue to slide As the country gets that palpable sense that we are heading in the wrong direction. The Democrats decide to pull out their oft used tactic.....blame Bush for everything: Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee decided to reveal CIA Director Leon Panetta's admission that the agency misled Congress after waiting weeks with no response from Panetta, sources familiar with the matter tell POLITICO. The Democrats, in a letter released Wednesday night, said "top CIA officials have concealed significant actions… and misled" members of Congress since 2001. Notice the time period? Yeah... In a June...
