Not just any Democratic Senate candidate, either. Its Richard Blumenthal, current attorney general of Connecticut, whom Chris Dodd made way for by retiring earlier this year. Hes been leading all Republican challengers by upwards of 20 points in the polls and was considered a mortal lock to win the seat in November. Until now.
Follow the link for the full background of his military history. The five deferments arent the problem. This is the problem:
We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam, Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it Afghanistan or Iraq we owe our military men and women unconditional support.

Repub Rob Simmons sounds like a good guy and a real veteran. I still like Peter Schiff but Simmons is a real deal.
You sure do find lots of good stuff. :)
This one is toast.
It didn’t hurt Tom Harkin.
No one cares. Well, that isn’t true. Democrats count LIARS among their HEROES. So this will solidify his status among his base.
Bad timing for Republicans. He can either recover, or more likely, be forced out and replaced by a Democrat who can win. If this had come out after the deadline for filing, this would be a Republican pickup.
What a douchebag poser.
Thank you for the encouragement, OKSooner. :)
Maybe he can borrow John Kerrys magic hat. Hes going to need it.
For as long as I live I will never understand anyone who lies about military service. There are few things I would find more embarrassing when caught, or when face to face with God. I seriously do not know how they live with themselves.
Let's hope so. I simply cannot relate to people who tell lies of that magnitude. That is to say, I can't relate to Democrats.
IIRC, this violates the Federal “Stolen Valor” law that was passed several years ago.
I wonder if the Hartford Courant will be reporting on this?
Suddenly, Connecticut is in play.
This is good. This is very, very good.
I don’t know why people think they can lie about their service record. The DD 214 shows what campaigns and areas you served in, at least mine does (retireed Air Force).
Or did some patriot do some digging?

I find this confusing.
(1) It's never a surprise when a Dem lies.
(2) When Dems talk about the military, and particularly about Vietnam, they have two main answers: never served, or lies about their service. Murtha was a rare exception who mostly told the truth about his service but redeemed himself with his voters by lying about everyone else in the military.
So, no, it's not a bombshell that a Dem who claimed to have served our country lied in that claim.
