Some fads are so hot that they begin to escape their humble beginnings and spread beyond their original scope. Apparently the knockout “game” is just such a trend. It is so darned versatile that it can be played anywhere, not just on the city streets where it started out. Take the halls of a public school for example. In Hamden, Connecticut a high school senior was punched in the face simply walking down the hallway last week. A male senior was walking in the halls of Hamden High School on Friday when police said a student “ran toward him and...

Writing in Real Clear Politics, Larry Elder says the New York Times (NYT) and National Public Radio (NPR) are ignoring the black-on-white crime taking place in the "Knockout Game"—that the NYT and NPR view reports on the game as "overblown" and "no big deal." The papers claim these attacks "do not represent a trend." According to Elder: "From a distance the media can spot some lone idiot holding up an offensive sign at a tea party rally. But when it comes to black perp/white victim crime, there is a different attitude." He cites a 2006 incident in Long Beach, CA,...

This has got to be a 'bizarre' incident, even for the 'KNOCKOUT GAME'. Or maybe it was just a 'racist attack'. The victim was attacked in August. I overheard his conversation in October when he was well enough to be out on the streets. He was riding his bicycle, when an black man came up from behind (also on a bicycle), and hit him with a 'brick'. That's right. The victim was struck by a brick while riding a bicycle by a black man coming up from behind on who was also on a bicycle. The victim (white man) thought...

True story. A couple of years back, I was walking home at night on North Capitol Street here in Washington, D.C., when two dudes randomly assaulted me before running away without stealing anything. At the time, I didn't think it was all that strange—I've lived in urban areas all my life, and plenty of people I know have been victims of anonymous street crime.

Police are investigating if a 72-year-old woman is the latest victim of the so-called “knockout game,” a violent trend in which youths sucker-punch unsuspecting strangers for kicks. I remember the summer of 2011, a story about a crowd of teenagers at the Wisconsin State Fair randomly attacking fairgoers went viral as a sign of a burgeoning race war. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel fanned the flames, calling the teenagers "rampaging youths" who caused "mob-like disturbances": "Then around the closing time of 11 p.m., witnesses told the Journal Sentinel, dozens to hundreds of black youths attacked white people as they left the fair, punching and kicking people and shaking and pounding on their vehicles." "Dozens to hundreds"? When witnesses can't differentiate between 24 and 100, should we really rely...

There is a hot new game being played in cities all over America, and it is very simple. You pick out a defenseless person on the street and you try to knock them out.

In most areas, it is known as “the knockout game”. In some communities it is called by other names such as “point-em-out, knock-em-out” and “polar bear hunting”. In many instances, the perpetrators don’t even try to steal anything from the people that they knock out. The goal is just to “have fun” by brutally attacking an innocent victim.

The New York Times no longer just ignores racial violence. Now the Gray Lady actively denies it.Over the weekend, the New York Times questioned whether recent reports of black mob violence in the form of the “Knockout Game” are really just “urban legends.” Like Big Foot.NBC, ABC and other networks were happy to follow the leader: They produced similar stories detailing the attacks — denying racial violence has anything to do with them.As much as The Times wishes the Knockout Games were just another urban legend, here’s the difference: Big Foot is alive. And on videos, thousands of them,...

As a 78-year-old woman walked down the street in Brooklyn, carrying her purse and bags, a young black male, about 20 years old, punched her in the head as hard as he could and ran away. The man said nothing and didn’t steal a single item. This is one of the latest instances of “Knockout,” a “game” of evidently increasing popularity. Reports have been surfacing for days across the country, including yesterday’s story in Philadelphia, and another in Washington, D.C., about the so-called “Knockout Game” in which thugs have targeted people, frequently women, at random and attempted to knock them unconscious with a single punch. (snip)Earlier this year, a 17-year-old punk in Lansing, Mich., identified as Marvell Weaver, was shot twice when he apparently tried to take things to a higher level by using a stun gun on his intended victim. Bad luck for Marvell, now in jail, because his stun gun didn’t work but the .40-caliber Smith & Wesson semi-auto...
