The storm battered Florida Gulf Coast is in the forecast track for Milton. The tropical storm formed quickly Saturday in the SW Gulf of Mexico. Many FL Gulf Coast barrier islands and coastal communities are in the initial stages of clearing debris from substantial flooding during Hurricane Helene.

Finally, my very own storm.
Prayers up for you friend. We were spared in the northern reaches of the TB area, but this one looks like part deux.
So sorry to hear that. Take care.

About 220 NNE of Veracruz Mexico MI
About 365 WNW of Progreso Mexico
Max Sustained Winds...40 MPH
Movement...NNE at 3 MPH
Minimum Pressure...1006 MB
Sad to hear that. Hopefully, things will get better for you soon and these new storms will not impact you.
I can’t even believe you put this thread up in the midst of trying to recover from Helene. You really are the BEST, NN.
Thanks. Not sure how much is left to lose beyond time lost after stacking furniture, clothes, generators, appliances, etc. at the curb for the past week. We have enough tarps to mostly cover our debris mountain. Pretty sure one neighbor has already bolted for places unknown. Everyone is still shell shocked from the flood.
Well the good news is that at least it will move quickly out
Yesterday’s GFS model had a weaker stalled system for over a week just off the west coast .. dumping widespread 15-20+ of rain over much of the FL peninsula
This was form a stalled front then tropical system
That stalled front is still there but with a faster motion = less days of heavy rain
Of interesting note is that Models has been consistent with a little vortex feature slowly moving over FL ahead of the larger Hurricane
Dumping heavy rain
Some of the Hurricane models bomb Milton out sub 930Mb as it moves over the loop current
But then weaken it as if approaches shore likely from increase in wind shear
Oh, no...prayers...anything we can do to help?
Ha! My back hurts too much after six hours of heavy lifting again today to do much more than sit for a while. Posting a thread is a cakewalk. All we need to do is cover the debris and cover the windows.
Needs to come here. We need the rain really badly.
🤔 the track they’re showing would take it right over our old house in Brevard county.
It’s aimed directly at me.
If prediction-history is any lesson, Hurricane Milton will hit somewhere else.
Wow. Sorry to hear you got flooded. My son’s been dodging the storms in Tampa. This one looks like it might get them.
Khan Noonien Singh: Have you ever read Milton, Captain?
Captain Kirk: Yes. I understand.
Scotty: It’s a shame for a good Scotsman to admit it, but I’m not up on Milton
Captain Kirk: The statement Lucifer made when he fell into the pit: “It is better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven.”
Great. I just arrived in So. Fla... Week of rain!
You clearly aren’t in SWFL. The lakes and ponds are full and the other retention areas have had water standing in them for while now. We don’t need the rain.
My prayer is that this storm moves through quickly. Ian was big, strong and slow. We would be thankful for small, weak and fast this time.
