For weeks now, the fictitious “Office of the President-Elect” has been covered as if Joe Biden is already in charge. Every once in a while, they roll the withered husk of a septuagenarian out on the stage to say stuff. He stands behind a podium that looks suspiciously like the one the actual president stands behind. Then he reads words that someone else has written and commits to implementing policies preferred by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.The words Biden mumbles have had quite an effect. He has already racked up several accomplishments in giving a preview of what a Biden administration plans to...

President-elect Joe Biden will no longer take the Amtrak to Washington next week to be sworn in as president, two officials familiar with the planning tell CNN, a sudden change that comes amid dramatically heightened security surrounding the inauguration. A decision was made this week for Biden not to take the 90-minute ride from his namesake station in Wilmington, Delaware, officials said, with at least some of the concerns hinging on his arrival at Union Station in Washington, which is only blocks from the now heavily fortified US Capitol. Biden previously had instructed his team to keep moving forward with...

President-elect Joe Biden said on Twitter Saturday that President Trump is "not above the law," after the House announced it would be bringing articles of impeachment on Monday. "Our president is not above the law," Biden wrote. "Justice serves the people — it doesn’t protect the powerful." But the president-elect has stopped short of calling for Trump’s impeachment. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called on the president to "immediately" resign. She said alternatively, Vice President Mike Pence could invoke the 25th Amendment, or else she promised the president would be impeached in the House. Asked if he supported such moves,...
