Febuary 2007 – Popular Ex-Mayor of New York, pro-choice Republican Rudy Giuliani, announced the creation of his 2008 Exploratory Committee. This is wonderful news for all Americans, especially GOP moderate Republicans who are counting on someone like Mr. Giuliani to help bring our Grand Old Party back to its roots – to once again be the Party of individual rights that advocates that the government that governs least is the government that governs best. Hillary Clinton (D.-N.Y.) casts herself as a moderate on gay marriage before mainstream audiences, but in a Saturday address to a pro-gay lobby group she promised that if elected President in 2008 she would secure a range of gay rights victories, including adoption for same-sex couples. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York are leading their respective primaries in South Carolina, according to a poll by Winthrop University released today. Pollsters asked 694 people their opinions of the current candidates. Clinton led with a nearly 82 percent favorable rating among Democrats over John Edwards, who had 70 percent, and Barack Obama, who had 67 percent. Giuliani led Republicans in the polls with 76 percent favorable rating within the party. John McCain had a 57 percent favorable rating. This weekend we were at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington. All but one of the 2008 Republican candidates were there. The conservatives sought to buttress their support from the right, to seek the support of the whole party. Rudy Guiliani was there to show he doesn’t have two heads.
