A suspect is in custody after a shooting inside a Chicago hospital left one police officer dead and another critically injured on Saturday morning, law enforcement sources said. Around 10:45 a.m., two Chicago police officers were shot at Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital, located at 5140 N. California Ave. in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood. For those of you who are new to this discussion, 5'7" Tom Cruise used his influence to land the role to play author Lee Child's 6'5" anti-hero, Jack Reacher (Cruise is also a producer). Paramount Pictures made the decision to postpone last Saturday’s premiere and the nationwide opening of Tom Cruise’s new movie, “Jack Reacher” this Friday in the wake of Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. Have any of my fellow Freepers read Lee Child's Reacher novels, and if so, did you feel like he had a political agenda? The first two I read seemed to have a definite bias against mid-America, but I thought maybe it was coincidental. The one I'm reading now -- "Echo Burning" -- goes out of its way to slam white people, Protestants, and Texans. If Child is a liberal bigot, I want ditch his novels. Anyone here have a feel for the guy?
