SNIPPET: "There are some good reasons for allowing at least a few jihadi forums to operate." SNIPPET: "However, there are limits to our ability to exploit all the intelligence opportunities a forum may present. To put it another way, jihadi forums contribute to future terrorism in ways that are unpredictable and/or beyond our ability to control. This would be the view held by those other government agencies who prefer to seek out and destroy forums and to take down forum activists. For my part, I can live with keeping online those forums we have sufficient access to monitor and resources...

The terror outfit al Qaeda's English-language magazine 'Inspire' has described Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi as a "lunatic" and "false leader". The spring issue of the magazine, extracts of which are available online, has a cover story called "The Tsunami of Change" written by firebrand Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. "The unfolding revolution has brought with it a wave of change," says the cover.

Much to the dismay of anti-terrorism agents and peace-loving human beings, al-Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula's controversial English-language magazine Inspire is still going strong. The latest installment of the Yemen-based terrorist mag, described in the Los Angeles Times as "the Vanity Fair of jihadi publications," and designed, as the Wall Street Journal wrote, to appeal to radicalized "American Muslims who grew up on glossy magazines like Details and GQ," was published on Tuesday. The cover (seen at right) conceptualizes the deadly tsunami that recently ravaged Japan as a metaphor for the "unfolding revolution" that is sweeping the Middle East. Also...

The second edition of an online al Qaeda magazine has surfaced with frank essays, creatively designed imagery and ominous terror tips such as using a pickup truck as a weapon and shooting up a crowded restaurant in Washington. The magazine is called "Inspire" and intelligence officials believe that an American citizen named Samir Khan now living in Yemen, is the driving force behind the publication. The latest edition was published on the 10th anniversary of the suicide attack on the USS Cole -- struck as it refueled in Aden, Yemen. The first edition came out in July. An article entitled...

War On Terror: In three short years, Samir Khan went from blogging about jihad from his parents' North Carolina basement to editing al-Qaida's new online magazine in Yemen — all under the FBI radar. The 24-year-old Khan is now helping America's Enemy No. 1 recruit Muslims to kill fellow Americans as Webmaster of al-Qaida's splashy new propaganda organ, which provides instructions in English on how to "make a bomb in the kitchen of your mom."And the FBI and U.S. intelligence never saw it coming. The Khan case is the latest example of a disturbing trend in U.S. intelligence lapses involving...

OPINION: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/16/AR2010071604206.html “Americans must not be cowed by Muslim objections to cartoons” By Kathleen Parker Sunday, July 18, 2010 SNIPPET: “You may recall that Norris, once a relatively unknown Seattle cartoonist, was first threatened a few months ago by some bloggers on an obscure Web site, Revolution Muslim, for attempting to draw the prophet Muhammad. More recently, she has been named to an execution list on Inspire, a new online English-language al-Qaeda magazine, which aims to recruit American Muslims for jihad.”

AQ’s first issue of “Inspire” is on the streets. Here’s the link. The first thing I learned just grated me: Will these clowns pick a single spelling of whatever they want to call themselves? Now we have “al-Qa’idah” will some slash over the second “a.” It’s like that nutcase running Libya – one name, a dozen spellings. Aggravating.

NEW YORK – Al-Qaida is preparing to launch its first online propaganda newspaper in English, a move that could broaden the terror group's reach inside the U.S. Counterterrorism officials and terror analysts say the newspaper, called Inspire, will be run by al-Qaida's branch in Yemen. That's the same group that's linked to the failed Christmas Day bombing of a U.S.-bound airliner.

NOTE: The following SNIPPET is a quote: DON'T OPEN THAT FILE, MEMET! With much fanfare, al-Malahim, the media arm of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, announced the imminent release of — and then subsequently did release — what they claimed was the first official English-language al-Qaida magazine. It's called "Inspire" as in "Inspire the Believers" (as opposed to the Quranic edict to Incite the Believers. They did this with the full cooperation of the administrators of the al-Faloja forum in particular. Interestingly, the first couple of pages of the document appear perfectly normal. Then things get weird...

ARLINGTON, Va., April 13, 2010 – The goal of the inaugural Warrior Games, scheduled for May 11-14, is to build confidence and provide rehabilitation for disabled servicemembers and veterans, the commander of U.S. Army Warrior Transition Command said yesterday. “We want to inspire [disabled] soldiers to get out there and prove that there are a lot of things that they really can do,” Army Brig. Gen. Gary Cheek said in an interview with American Forces Press Service and the Pentagon Channel. “It sort of reinforces the notion that all the services have: [The Warrior Games] is about your abilities, not...

WASHINGTON, March 17, 2010 – Army Lt. Col. Marc Hoffmeister has endured some of the most grueling conditions on the planet. In the past 15 years, Hoffmeister has tackled extreme challenges with adventure and expedition races through the Rocky Mountains, treks through the Alaskan wilderness and an Eco Challenge in Fiji, not to mention combat tours in Iraq and throughout the Middle East. Adventuring is very much a part of who he is. But in the blink of an eye, a roadside bomb in Iraq all but crushed Hoffmeister’s spirit. He nearly lost his life, and was left with little...
