METTAWA -- A Highland Park woman has been charged with battery in connection with yelling at a man in a store, claiming to have COVID-19 and spitting in his face, police said. On June 16, 2020, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a retail store in the 25900 block of Riverwoods Road, Mettawa, for a report of a battery. On its Facebook page, the Huntsville location of Johnny Gryll’s restaurant says, “Come on in, everyone welcome.” But owner Mike Heffelfinger is barring his doors to six state and local officials -- including Gov. Kay Ivey, Alabama State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris and Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle -- because they say people in Alabama must wear face masks during the coronavirus pandemic.
