  • Startup sparks fury for shipping 100,000-year-old Arctic ice to chill cocktails in Dubai

    New York Post ^ | March 1, 2024 | Snejana Farberov
Greenland start-up is being accused of doing titanic damage to the environment by shipping ice from glaciers over 100,000 years old to be used in cocktails served at high-priced bars in Dubai. Arctic Ice, which started this year, touts its product as the “oldest and purest” ice in the world as it is harvested from icebergs in Greenland — a distance of more than 4,730 miles from the Middle Eastern megalopolis. Though the makers say they hope to highlight global warming’s effects on ice sheets with the their business model — and even stop sea levels from rising — the...

We see this almost everyday now in the news. An illegal alien is arrested in a sanctuary city for a violent crime, ICE issues a detainer request for the local jurisdiction in which the criminal is being held, that jurisdictions then ignores the ICE detainer and releases the criminal from custody. What is the solution to this? In my opinion jurisdictions should be held liable for the actions committed by illegal immigrants after they are released from custody. The victims and families should have the right to sue these jurisdictions.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Monday doubled down while speaking to a group at a town hall meeting in Canarsie, Brooklyn, saying the sanctuary city law needs to be modified so that any migrant who commits a felony can be turned over to ICE and deported. Adams commended his administration for doing an excellent job during a challenging time, but stated his hands are tied by federal and local law. The mayor spoke about some migrants participating in robberies and using mopeds to commit snatch and grab stick-ups. The issue, Adams said, became a real problem, so the...

Mayor Mitch LaKind said the goal is to ensure Denver knows the town will not accept 'busloads' of migrants.. A Colorado town voted 7-0 to affirm its status as a non-sanctuary city amid growing fears that migrants could soon flood the area from nearby Denver. "The goal is to make sure that Denver knows that we will not be accepting any busloads of migrants into our community. .. we don't have a budget that matches theirs, and we won't utilize taxpayer funds for the support of what they've decided to take on themselves as a self-declared sanctuary city," Mitch LaKind,...

In 2084, humanity had finally turned its back on burning the ancient remains of a bygone era, only to find itself shackled to the caprices of the sun and wind.In the year 2084, the world had reached an equilibrium of sorts — a strange, unbalanced balance that no one had aimed for but had settled into, like dust after a storm. The skies, once bustling with the egalitarian hustle of air travel, had quieted down, reserved now for the sleek, whispering jets of the elites: politicians who crafted the future from the clouds; entertainment superstars like Brittany Quick, whose laughter...

Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, one of the few national journalists who focuses on the crisis at our southern border and is often down there filming the ongoing tragedy, posted a disturbing story to X Sunday describing how an illegal immigrant who sexually abused at least one minor was released -- only to go out and commit more offenses. How did this happen? Easy. The perp was allowed to walk the streets because, once again, local authorities -- especially those in sanctuary cities and states -- often refuse to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).Authorities in Fairfax County, Virginia...

If the future's electric, why isn't the past? Think a little bit about that simple-sounding question and you'll understand what science is all about and why it matters so much to humankind. Consider this: the ancient Greeks knew some basic things about electricity over 2500 years ago, yet they didn't have electric cookers or fridges, computers or vacuum cleaners. How come? Electricity is just the same as it was back then: it works in exactly the same way. What's changed is that we understand how it works now and we've figured out effective ways to use it for our own...
  • Mars Express unveils potential water resource for future Mars missions at equator

ESA's Mars Express spacecraft has made a significant breakthrough in our understanding of Mars's hydrological history by uncovering extensive layers of water ice at the planet's equator. This finding, derived from new data analysis by the Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding (MARSIS), suggests the presence of ice layers stretching several kilometers below the surface in the Medusae Fossae Formation (MFF). Over a decade ago, initial studies by Mars Express pointed to the existence of massive deposits in the MFF, as deep as 2.5 kilometers. However, the composition of these deposits remained a mystery until now. "We've explored...

One of climate alarmists’ favorite predictions is that the Arctic is losing its ice due to global warming, something elites have claimed for decades. New data shows, however, that Arctic ice is actually increasing! Climate has always changed and will continue to do so until the real apocalypse (not the fake one climate alarmists have been predicting as imminent for decades). With more than 50 years of failed climate change predictions behind them and a track record of consistent and total untrustworthiness, you’d think that the doom prophets would have given up. Then again, climate change is a convenient way...

As controversy rises around deportations underway across the U.S., a new report says Palantir, the secretive Palo Alto security firm co-founded by Peter Thiel, has built “the engine for Donald Trump’s deportation machine.” Trump has brought in new policies directing authorities to ramp up arrests and deportation of people in the U.S. illegally. And Palantir, valued at $20 billion, is key to that effort, according to a report published March 2. The company did not respond immediately to a request for comment. In 2014, Palantir won a $41 million contract to build and maintain an intelligence system called Investigative Case...

SALTILLO, Mexico – Gabby and Ana are in love. So are Marco Antonio and Juan Carlos. Under a sweeping new law allowing same-sex couples to form civil unions, they are planning to turn their love into a legal commitment. Legislators in the dusty northern border state of Coahuila have stunned Mexico by giving same-sex couples property and inheritance rights long reserved for married heterosexuals. It is a first for this predominantly Roman Catholic country, a measure so swift and so bold that it surprised even the gay community. All of a sudden, gay rights are on the national agenda. Since...
