CBS has renewed its veteran comedy, "How I Met Your Mother," for a somewhat surprising season 9. Fortunately for the continuity of the fairly serialized sitcom, all of the cast members -- including Jason Segel -- have agreed to return for at least one more year. As first reported by Deadline.com, "HIMYM" is unofficially set for another season thanks to negotiations with the cast and producers working out positively for CBS. Cast deals were finalized just before a Friday (Dec. 21) deadline, despite rumors that Segel was unwilling to continue on the show. Currently in the final year of contracts...

With last night’s two-part episode “The Final Page,” ‘How I Met Your Mother‘ closed out its 2012 run, leaving the series at an important crossroads. We’ve been hearing for months now that rumors of a ninth season were possible if CBS managed to sign the cast and crew for an additional year, but with a decision imminent in the next month, what’s standing in the way of locking things down? Are the actors unwilling to return? Whether you love ‘How I Met Your Mother’ enough to give it a fitting end this May, or love it so much you can’t...

<p>How I Met Your Mother co-creator Craig Thomas has hinted at the show's eighth season.</p> <p>The CBS sitcom's next run will pick up where last night's season finale ended, with Robin (Cobie Smulders) revealed as Barney's future bride.</p> <p>"We ended the season finale with a lot of, for lack of a better term, mind-f**ks," Thomas told Vulture. "So we'll have to do a whole episode stuck in that time frame. And then in episode 802, we jump ahead... and catch up with everyone."</p>

In what amounts to late middle age in television the CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother" suddenly finds itself a hit. Seven years into its run this well-regarded series, which returns with a new episode on Monday night, is scoring its best ratings. It is up almost 20 percent this season among the audience that advertisers most want to reach, viewers between the ages of 18 and 49, and now ranks as the No. 8 entertainment show in that category. Beyond giving comfort to late bloomers everywhere, the performance by "How I Met Your Mother" is proving that the...

LOS ANGELES - Neil Patrick Harris is gay and wants to quell any rumors to the contrary. "(I) am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest," Harris tells People magazine's Web site. The 33-year-old actor said he was motivated to disclose his sexuality because of recent "speculation and interest in my private life and relationships." Harris stars on the CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother." He started on TV as a teen, playing the namesake doctor on the series "Doogie Howser, M.D." ___
