The National Weather Service issued a flood warning and asked people in north Monterey County to seek higher ground. I don't think getting on a kayak is what they had in mind. One person on Kennedy Street in Salinas decided to make the best of a rainy situation. Shawnie Randle took the video (shown right above) of her neighbor kayaking and said they had a blast. Her neighbor referred to the flooding as Kennedy Lake.

medley of games, riddles, rhymes and number problems, “Lewis Carroll’s Guide for Insomniacs” is the perfect companion for the wee hours when sleep won’t come. Adorned with a sprightly new introduction by Gyles Brandreth, the British politician, Carroll enthusiast and European Monopoly champion, the little volume is a reissue of the 1979 compilation “Lewis Carroll’s Bedside Book.” It features the creator of “Alice in Wonderland” (1865) the way his many “child-friends” knew him, as an infinitely resourceful inventor of new entertainments, including an early form of Scrabble and a version of croquet that you can play in your head. The...

All that she wants is another … handbag. A woman named Stephanie Noble, who goes by @iamstephanienoble on TikTok, said she’s child-free by choice and would rather take naps than deal with a screaming child. “Being a mother is the most important job in the world, but it doesn’t mean every woman needs to sign up for that,” the content creator and business owner told The Post. In a video posted four days ago, now with almost 3 million views, she said she constantly has to defend her kid-free stance.

I am a former Ford Engineer and avid vehicle enthusiast. Ford has lengthened maintenance intervals to show reduced maintenance costs. Oil changing in the Engine, Transmission, Power Takeoff Unit(provides drive to the rear axle in AWD vehicles), Rear Axle. are addressed. My recommendations are especially targeted at Turbo Charged Engines, AWD, and Automatic Transmissions. Why now? Because of very complex Tranmission computer Controlled 6 speeds and more and reduced Oil Capacities. Recommendations: Engine- 5-w30 Blended or Synthetic and Filter. Initial change at 2000 miles(cleans our manufacturing dirt and initial wear particles) - every 4000 miles thereafter. Transmission- (Filter is internal...

-Martinis costing anywhere from $30 to $150 are popping up in places like New York and San Francisco. -The maximalist martinis encapsulate "loud luxury." -Loud luxury, in contrast to "quiet luxury," is about spending a lot and owning it. Martinis are having a moment — so, naturally, that means someone has to start charging exorbitant prices for them. Enter: The $40 martini. Recent stories from Eater SF and Punch have dug into the rise of "maximalist" martinis popping up in cities such as San Francisco and New York at wildly high prices. In Manhattan, there's a $45 citrus martini at...

Is anyone familiar with the area around Winnipeg, Canada, and bank access fishing opportunities in the immediate area? I think I'd be mainly after walleye - just good size to eat, as I'm not after a trophy, just a meal or two! This outing would only be a day trip from where we'd be staying in Winnipeg, so, a location not over 1 hr. from Winnipeg itself is much preferred...

— If they don't, things could get complicated by Anesthesiology resident Max Feinstein, MD, explores how marijuana use can complicate medical procedures and the perioperative period. Following is a transcript: Feinstein: If there is one person who you should definitely not lie to about any drug use, it's your anesthesiologist. My name is Max Feinstein and I'm an anesthesiologist filming here at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. In this video, I describe the anesthesiologists' considerations for patients who consume marijuana. If you find this video interesting or helpful, I'd really appreciate it if you liked it and...

John O’Connor’s The Secret History of Bigfoot: Field Notes on a North American Monster is a work of mourning. Bigfoot, as O’Connor, a journalism professor, illustrates, is thriving—if by “Bigfoot” we’re talking about the legend of Sasquatch and the communities that have sprung up to seek out the hairy, towering primate said to lurk in the depths of America’s few remaining old-growth forests. It’s that Bigfoot, the symbol, who, O’Connor argues, flourishes and does so because of how much we’ve lost. This Bigfoot is a black armband commemorating everything from the environmental devastation wrought on the continent to the dearth...

When Lemon8 user Caipngwfish got together with Elton Quek, some of her friends weren't exactly supportive of the relationship. "Are you sure you want to date him?" This was a common question she'd get from them. The general perception was that she was dating down, which she defined as dating someone who earns less than her. In a recent Lemon8 post, she shared her personal experience of what it is like to date downwards. "In this day and age, it generally means lesser earning power or less educated," Caipngwfish pointed out, adding that at one point, her monthly salary was...

A $580 basic toilet cleaning course on the SkillsFuture portal drew ridicule from netizens this week, but agencies said such classes are part of mandatory training requirements for cleaners. In response to queries, SkillsFuture Singapore and the National Environment Agency (NEA) said in a joint statement on Feb 22 that these classes teach existing and prospective cleaners "essential skills" for the washing of restrooms. The 20 or so such classes found on the SkillsFuture portal range from basic to advanced and take between 30 and 40 hours to complete. Before subsidies, most basic courses cost between $100 and $600. After...

Depending on how old you are, you may or may not remember a sitcom called Home Improvement. The accident-prone lead character "Tim 'The Tool Man' Taylor" played by Tim Allen would often go over the top with DIY projects like putting a jet engine on a riding mower, and hilarity would ensue. If there was ever any wonder if that show inspired an entire generation of tinkerers creating ridiculously unnecessary and awesome projects, we have confirmation in the form of an outrageous V-8-powered hand tool. VIDEOS AT LINK................. YouTuber "TimWelds" has over 260,000 subscribers and normally creates educational videos to...
