More than 23 million U.S. immigrants will be eligible to vote in the 2020 presidential election, making up roughly 10% of the nation’s overall electorate – both record highs, according to Pew Research Center estimates based on Census Bureau data. The number of immigrant eligible voters has increased steadily over the past 20 years, up 93% since 2000. By comparison, the U.S.-born eligible voter population grew more slowly (by 18%) over the same period, from 181 million in 2000 to 215 million in 2020. 1 (Immigrant eligible voters are those ages 18 and older born outside the United States who...

Communist Bernie Sanders won the Nevada Democrat party primary on Saturday. It wasn’t even close. Bernie won by at least 25 points over the next closest contender Joe Biden. This was good news for Bernie and global communists but not good for Democrats. Today MSNBC reported that in the 2020 NV primaries only 35% of first time caucus-goers voted, compared to 44% in 2016. This denotes a lack of enthusiasm, in general. The Democrat party today once again hemorrhaged Latino and black voters in Nevada. The Census Bureau is spending millions of dollars on an ad campaign seeking to assure members of the Latino community that their information will not be shared with local or federal authorities. The ads, which are a part of the bureau’s $500 million campaign, are focused on mitigating fears regarding the now-excluded citizenship question from the 2020 census. The entire advertising campaign with 1,000 ads will continue over the next five months, including $50 million targeting Latino populations, $40 million focused on African Americans and $20 million on Asian Americans, according to Culture ONE World, a Washington-based ad agency, Politico...

Students at a Chicago high school held a sit-in Wednesday in protest after a teacher allegedly told a Latino student last month to "go back to your country” when she and others declined to stand for the national anthem during an assembly. Mary Beck, the school's principal, addressed students during the protest at Nicholas Senn High School, saying she had notified the school district soon after receiving a report of the teacher's alleged comment. "I notified everybody within three hours of receiving the report. It is all in writing," Beck said in a video posted to Twitter. "It is all...

Latinos are a coveted voting bloc in the battleground state of Florida — but they're not one group when it comes to their countries of origin and the issues on which they focus. To that end, a progressive political action committee has been releasing a series of ads targeting specific Latino groups as the voting registration deadline approaches. Forward Florida Action has begun airing Spanish-language radio ads this month across the state encouraging voters to register as Democrats before the Feb. 18 deadline to participate in the presidential primary. One radio ad targeting Puerto Ricans tells prospective voters that as...

New Mexico Republicans will embark on an aggressive strategy to win over Hispanic and Native American voters in 2020 as the party experiences its most diverse primary races in recent history, state chairman Steve Pearce announced. Pearce said the state party will appoint Hispanic and Native American outreach coordinators in all of the state’s 33 counties. He is also urging all candidates to travel to Democratic strongholds instead of just focusing on the GOP’s traditional base. “I am excited about minority candidates saying more broadly for the first time, ‘I am Republican, and I’m going to run as a Republican,'”...

A nonpartisan group in Washington, D.C., says targeted mailings that encourage voter registration are going out to 1 in 8 residents of New Mexico. The Voter Participation Center says it will attempt to reach more than 248,000 people in the state by mail in January as part of a national campaign to reach populations that are statistically underrepresented in elections. The effort seeks to narrow the gap between those eligible to vote and those who are registered to vote — a gap that is especially pronounced among Latinos, said center founder and President Page Gardner. New Mexico has the highest...

The Democratic Party is great at capturing the minority vote. In fact, the Democrats have been great at telling Hispanics, African Americans and women that they should automatically vote for the Democratic Party. People are finally waking up and realizing that their values align more with the Republican Party than the Democrats. And that has people campaigning hard for President Donald Trump's reelection efforts. "I look at President Trump as the one who most closely represents my values," 65-year-old Ray Baca, the Chairman of Border Hispanics for Trump, told CNN. "People will hear that and say 'Values? What values does...

The past 24 hours provided a clear and painful picture of the momentous challenges American Jews face these days. The day began with news that President Trump has issued an executive order designed, the White House said, to fight anti-Semitism. Reporting on the order, The New York Times stressed that it will “effectively interpret Judaism as a race or nationality, not just a religion,” and that it “could be used to stifle free speech and legitimate opposition to Israel’s policies toward Palestinians in the name of fighting anti-Semitism.” Leftist NGOs echoed the same talking point, and a phalanx of pundits...

On August 22, a convoy of blacked-out Suburbans, flanked by police escorts, sped west along Sunset Boulevard and then headed north into the Hollywood Hills. Former Vice President Joe Biden's top Latina adviser quit his 2020 campaign last week, citing discontent over the front-runner's positions on immigration. National Coalitions Director Vanessa Cárdenas has updated her Twitter bio to read, "formerly with @joebiden," Politico first reported. Cárdenas and the Biden campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment on her resignation. Her departure comes as Biden and other 2020 Democratic presidential candidates have come under increased scrutiny from Hispanic leaders who say they have not paid enough attention to Latino voters. Biden in particular has irritated many Latinos for his stance on certain immigration issues,...

There are millions of Americans who didn't vote for Trump who have substantially benefited from the economic boom created by his tax cut and deregulation policies. The median household income is up $5,003 before taxes for his term so far, and given the tax cuts, the after-tax total must be even higher. Racial and ethnic minorities with large numbers of low-income members have benefited tremendously from the cutoff of the supply of unskilled labor from illegal aliens, as wages have climbed steeply at that end of the scale. Beth Bauman of Townhall notes that Hispanics have particularly benefitted: The Hispanic unemployment rate currently sits at...

YORK, Pa. (AP) — President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign is making contrarian appeals in the most unusual places, trying to win over Hispanic voters in states not known for them, like Pennsylvania. His second campaign, far better financed and organized than his first, is pressing every potential tactical advantage, including trying to capture even small slivers of the Hispanic vote, hoping it adds up to the narrowest of winning margins. “I think that you win campaigns with what we call ‘tajaditos.’ Little bits. You have to have a little bit of this and a little bit of that,” said Bertica...

Former Vice President Joe Biden announced on Tuesday that his campaign was launching a new Latino Outreach initiative called “Todos con Biden.” But the campaign made a public relations error when it failed to secure the domain name, www.todosconbiden.com, or the Twitter handle, @TodosConBiden, for the initiative, paving the way for President Donald Trump’s campaign to troll the former vice president. A leading Latino political organization is launching its first-ever incumbent protection campaign, designed to prop up five Hispanic representatives who flipped formerly Republican districts. The Latino Victory Fund (LVF), which played an important role in fundraising and promoting the members in 2018, launched Wednesday the "Our Champions" campaign to protect the seats held by Democratic Reps. Gil Cisneros (Calif.), Mike Levin (Calif.), Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (Fla.), Xochitl Torres Small (N.M.) and Antonio Delgado (N.Y.). Two of the five men convicted in the savage Bronx slaughter of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz showed no remorse during their sentencing Friday as they smirked for the camera and threw up Trinitarios gang signs. Jonaiki Martinez Estrella, 25, and Jose Muniz, 23, were pictured flashing the violent street gang’s signs for a Post photographer before Judge Robert Neary slammed them with hefty jail terms. The gesture which Estrella and Muniz made with their thumb, index finger, and middle finger extended, is the “seven points” sign of the ruthless Dominican gang, a police source told The Post. “I cant believe these...

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) announced Tuesday it will push for aggressive expansion of access to higher education in the upcoming reauthorization of the Higher Education Act (HEA). The CHC put out a list of priorities for higher education, including increasing college accessibility and affordability, support for teachers, oversight of the higher education system, and renewed support for Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) as well as diversity in education. Congress is expected to debate reauthorization of the HEA when it comes back from recess mid-October. The landmark law sets guidelines for how federal funding is distributed in higher education.
