CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- More than half of North Carolina military members surveyed in the latest Elon University poll disapprove of President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq and his overall job performance. Nearly 53 percent of military members said they strongly disapproved or disapproved of Bush's handling of his job. And just more than 56 percent of that same group strongly disapproved or disapproved of how he has dealt with the Iraq war. Overall, 53 percent of those surveyed for the poll released Friday did not approve of Bush's job performance, while 57 percent did not approve of his...

Give me one reason why "judicial extraordinaire" Harriet Miers is qualified to sit on the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court. One.

who needs freedom anyway? I mean, look at what it's doen to us. America has more crime, more poverty, and more problems than any other country in the world all beacuse of freedom. The freedom to do what we want but shouldn't there be limits? Especially now that we are at war? Allowing the liberals to smear our soldiers and to sympathize with arabs is demoralizing. We never had this problem in WWII. We just threw them into camps if they messed up. Back when this country was young, we had no freedom. Everyone went to church, women did what...

This pledge drive is going way too slowly for my comfort. Please donate now! What if we lose Free Republic? Where else are we going to find a group of people who show unquestioned support for a President with 35% approval ratings? Whao is going to organize the "Free Tom Delay" and "Free Karl Rove" protest rallies? If everyone would just donate $1.99 (the price of a 6 pack of Pabst, as you all are aware) we can lick this thing. So donate. What's more important, your country or your beer?

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. A grand jury will decide if a Gurley woman will stand trial for allegedly trying to hire a hit man to kill her neighbors to avenge her dead cat. 38-year-old Alisha Grantham is charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit murder. District Judge Lynn Sherrod sent the case to the jury and set Grantham's bail Wednesday at $200,000. She was arrested on May 20th. Sheriff's deputy Marcus Adams says Grantham tried to hire George Nayman of Gurley to kill the family next door. She suspected the family of three adults and a 13-year-old child of killing her...

Doug From Upland's siting Arianna Huggington and Al Gore exiting large vehicles at a conference on the environment in San Francisco has set the blogs afire. But there are legitimate uses for large vehicles. Really there are. The I just don't think one person driving the LA freeways in one because the want to win a collision contest at the expense of the unfortunate person they might collide with isn't one. Neither is having bigger, always spinning wheels than your neighbor. Neither is because you get a tax writeoff for a vehicle you use only for commuting and driving to...

I’m not a bigot but I believe this question must be asked. A closeted gay chief justice will be vulnerable to blackmail and may try to implement an insidious agenda to destroy the traditional family. Here’s some of the evidence: -he only married in his 40s. -his children were all adopted. -he has supported gay rights in pro bono work. And I'm not even getting into all the stories about his high school years... Then we have the pictures: hmm how many guys here ever posed for a picture holding a dish? I was googling about gay judges and found...

I was doing a routine search about the life of Rush Limbaugh. I ran into some wild accusations. I do not want to repeat them. I was shocked because the statements were new to me. I am wondering if others have run into these and what they think. Here is one link: http://pssht.com/biography/rush_limbaugh.html I am a paleo-conservative, not a DU troll. I have read FR for almost 7 years and post often.

I've been thinking about this: Has anyone considered that, maybe, Governor Blanco DELIBERATELY delayed acting because she knew she would create a human trajedy she could then blame on the President? The Mayor may be in on it too, but I can't believe that the governor of a state, faced with images of desperate people in New Orleans on TV, wouldn't have picked up the phone and BEGGED the President to move the ENTIRE military to her state/cities. I mean, think about it: These people had been trying to "get" President Bush for years! The Jersey Girls (9-11 widows) didn't...

Folks, If the IQ for these posts was measured, you would all have a collective score of 25. George Bush may not be perfect but he is a heck of a lot better than Hollering Dean, FrankenKerry, and Hillary. We are in Iraq for the long haul, so get over it. Tax breaks have put more money in my pocket and I am definitely NOT in the top income bracket by any means. The disaster in New Orleans was not the result of any screwups from the White House. It was your Democrat buddies Nagin and Blanco that f@#$ed up...

Don't you think our president is doing well? Most main stream media(save fox) would call the president " the cause for this disaster". I want to be clear. He was not! God, allowed this to happen. Somne main stream media would call the president a non-sensitive man. Wrong again! Just a few days ago i saw our president, Mr. Bush holding two young ladys and comforting them. I saw some tears being held back bye or president. If any body calls Mr. Bush a "non-carring" man in my presance they would get heck. Then of course, there's people like kerry,...

As President Bush flew this week to the Gulf Coast for his second post-Katrina visit, an aide said the trip reflected Bush's usual routine of "seeing as much as possible and getting information from different places." Not quite. Bush did not visit with any angry evacuees in New Orleans. As Katrina approached, Bush and his top aides spent days apparently unaware that New Orleans might be flooded - despite many warnings, some from inside his own administration. Afterwards, he heaped praise on officials responsible for the slow and initially disorganized disaster-relief efforts. His aides dismiss demands that Bush hold someone...

First of all I "middle of the road" I dont blame the president for katrina, I believe in gun ownership, I think you should drive what ever you want, and I hold people responsible for actions they take. I also believe in a womans right to choose, we should do all we can to protect the enviroment and helping the poor. I was banned for nothing more than people who do not want to face facts, crying to moderators. I have read this forum many times, some things I agree with and some I dont. But I just saw how...

In light of the recent events in New Orleans etc. It is interesting to note that over a hundred fifty years ago the American prophet Joseph Smith prophesied that the day would come when the US government would waste itself waging war in foreign lands while at home the nation would collapse with natural disasters and internal amarchy and chaos as a direct result of the wickedness of the US people and the nations rejection of the God of this land, Jesus Christ. Coincedence? A lucky guess?

I support no one but our president I DONT CARE ABOUT RISING GAS PRICES, I DONT CARE THAT HE WAS DERELICT IN HIS DUTIES BY NOT CALLING FOR AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TO THE VICTIMS OF KATRINA, I DONT CARE THAT HE LIED TO US ABOUT WMD'S I AM LOYAL TO NO ONE BUT BUSH

Hello all! Thanks for reading in advance. I am a long time non voter, with a history of a few Libertarian ideals. I tend to stray a bit to the left on most issues, but recent events in the country have led me to question weather or not supporting the Administration in the upcoming Local elections as well as the presidancy in 08 is a good idea. I heard that this was a good forum to find GOPers and hear their ideas. I was hoping to throw around some ideas and hear what you had to say about why you...
