A concealed carry holder stopped an armed robbery crew from stealing his car early this morning in downtown Chicago. The permit holder shot two men during an exchange of gunfire in the heart of Chicago’s downtown and stopped a car theft in progress. The victim was leaving the Cambria Hotel in the theater district when someone fired shots at him from a red SUV Chicago police said. House Bill 5225 passed in the state House by a 74 to 36 vote. HB 5225 would repeal the bureaucratic state “permit-to-purchase” handguns and instead utilize the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System. GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Cherokee County deputies are investigating a shootout that happened at Sonny's Restaurant on Hwy 29 just outside of Gaffney. Officials said three attempted robbers were shot by two employees early Saturday morning. One of the three died at the restaurant. The other two were taken to local hospitals. News 4 was told one of the employees also suffered an arm injury. The same Sonny's Restaurant was robbed on Tuesday. The suspect in that robbery was arrested.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- An instructor teaching a concealed weapons safety class accidentally shot one of his participants in Orlando. The class was being held at the Summit Church on Herndon Avenue, but the church was not sponsoring the class. The class was a NRA Concealed Weapons Safety Course. Orlando police say Michael Phillips was teaching the class, when his gun accidentally went off, and shot Robert Frauman, Junior. Frauman was shot in the foot. He was taken to the hospital, and is expected to recover.

Nearly two years after a dispute over a deer stand that left six western Wisconsin hunters dead, a new Rice Lake park dedicated to the hunters has been completed. Hunters Memorial Park will be dedicated at 1 p.m. Monday. The park, at Whitetail Drive and Linden Avenue, was built with private donations and will be given to the city of Rice Lake.
