Something very creepy and un-American happened outside the congressional office of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). During remarks at CPAC, Greene mistakenly said that Guam was a foreign land. In response, Guam's representative in Congress led a large contingent of Guam National Guard troops - in uniform - to her office. Rep. Michael F.Q. San Nicolas, Guam's only representative, and the troops briefly met with one of Greene’s aides, who said the congresswoman was not at her office. The congressman has yet to explain why he summoned military troops to escort him to the Georgia congresswoman's office. In 2010, Rep....

While Washington acknowledges its allies and partners are willing to back a “free and open” Indo-Pacific policy, the keys to American success in confronting Chinese bullying is having smaller nations see a “consistent and reliable” presence from the U.S., according to a former senior diplomat.Speaking at a Heritage Foundation online webinar, David Stilwell, who from 2019 to early 2021 served as the assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, said “we should design our policy for speed, not perfection.”The retired Air Force brigadier general said, the “policy has to be steady” to deter “gray-zone” harassment and military...

Persistent use of methamphetamine is the single biggest risk factor for HIV seroconversion among gay and bisexual men, according to a new study published in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes. Using subjects from across the U.S., including Puerto Rico and Guam, researchers found that over 12 months of follow-up, 14% of study participants reported using meth, and 2.5% tested positive for HIV (115 new infections). More than a third of study participants (36%) seroconverting for HIV were persistent users of methamphetamine.

As US aircraft carriers sail the South China Sea, many Chinese military analysts are warning that a military confrontation is inevitable. Rabbi Pinchas Winston, an end-of-days expert, notes that, as prophecy states, a military confrontation is inevitable and China, though not explicitly named in the Bible as the aggressor, has a clear role to play as the nemesis of Israel. Correspondent Yu Zeyuan reported in Think China on a recent scholarly article by Chinese military academic Wang Yunfei. The article warned that “right now, it looks very likely that the Trump administration may make an unexpected move and suddenly decide...

Everyone is up in arms about the fact that the Navy brass fired Captain Brett Crozier, of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, after Crozier complained about people on his ship being infected with COVID-19. To many people, he was a lone man fighting a hardened bureaucracy on behalf of the men and women in his care. To others, though, he was a dangerous malcontent who placed his entire ship at risk by ignoring rules that exist for a reason. The report about Captain Brett Crozier, whose ship, the USS Roosevelt, was docked in Guam, broke like...

Capt. Brett Crozier was removed from his post as commanding officer of the San Diego-based USS Theodore Roosevelt, but he got a hero’s sendoff from his sailors as he left the aircraft carrier in Guam. Video shared by sailors on social media shows a significant number of the crew cheering, applauding and chanting Crozier’s name as he exited the vessel. The captain was relieved of command over the way he spread a memo wrote to Navy leadership desperately calling for swift action after a major coronavirus outbreak aboard the Roosevelt.

Note: This story has been updated with comments from the U.S. Navy. The captain of a nuclear aircraft carrier with more than 100 sailors infected with the coronavirus pleaded Monday with U.S. Navy officials for resources to allow isolation of his entire crew and avoid possible deaths in a situation he described as quickly deteriorating. The unusual plea from Capt. Brett Crozier, a Santa Rosa native, came in a letter obtained exclusively by The Chronicle and confirmed by a senior officer on board the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, which has been docked in Guam following a COVID-19 outbreak among the...

Known far and wide for his outlandish statements — his doozy of all time coming in 2010 when he feared the island of Guam might "tip over and capsize" due to overpopulation — the Georgia congressman reloaded during Thursday's impeachment hearing and claimed that President Donald Trump's height advantage over Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky created an "imbalance of power."

If you thought Guam tipping over and capsizing was the height of idiocy, think again. Hank Johnson is back. On the floor of the House he suggests that President Trump has Zelensky's daughter duct taped in the basement. This guy is comedy gold.

President Donald Trump is raising a large chunk of the money for his border wall with Mexico by deferring several military construction projects slated for Guam, a strategic hub for U.S. forces in the Pacific. This may disrupt plans to move Marines to Guam from Japan and to modernize munitions storage for the Air Force. About 7% of the funds for the $3.6 billion wall are being diverted from eight projects in the U.S. territory, a key spot in the U.S. military’s efforts to deter North Korea and counter China’s growing military. The administration has vowed it’s only delaying the...

n a major win for the Trump administration, the Supreme Court issued an order late Wednesday ending all injunctions that had blocked the White House's ban on asylum for anyone trying to enter the U.S. by traveling through a third country, such as Mexico, without seeking protection there. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals – long a liberal bastion that has been aggressively reshaped into a more moderate court by the Trump administration – handed the White House a partial victory in the case on Monday by ending the nationwide injunction. But the 9th Circuit kept the injunction alive within...

IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF PUERTO RICO CASE NO. 17-2133 (GAG) OPINION AND ORDER Article IV of the Constitution confers upon Congress the power to enact all needful rules and regulations for governing territories of the United States. This clause, however, is not carte blanche for Congress to switch on and off at its convenience the fundamental constitutional rights to Due Process and Equal Protection enjoyed by a birthright United States citizen who relocates from a State to Puerto Rico. SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Congress on Wednesday gave final passage to legislation that would shut down legal cockfights in U.S. territories including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, ending an institution dating from the colonial era that generates millions of dollars each year. Opponents of the measure approved by the House said it will have a devastating effect on the islands' economies, noting that in Puerto Rico alone the cockfighting industry generates $18 million a year and employs some 27,000 people. “We're all going crazy. Everybody is desperate,” said 86-year-old Angel Ortiz, who owns a cockfighting ring in...
