The news has been full of stories of the visit of Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to New York, and more specifically to Columbia University, where he was to deliver a speech and answer questions from the audience. Before today’s talk, the coverage was full of debate, with the usual arguments from both sides. Liberals tended to describe the occasion as an opportunity to advance freedom of speech, while conservatives portrayed this as just one more example of leftists ignoring the greater good of the country in order to practice various platitudes.
